I have family photos on my notebook..who should I contact. I bought this in August and it has finally pissed me off enough to speak out.
-
You're just finding them now? Did you buy it through the outlet?
-
Nope. I noticed it a month or two after I purchased it new.
-
When you recieved your laptop, did it look used? Maybe they just installed a hd that they didnt format all the way. But either way its unacceptable.
Try calling dell Customer Service

It didn't looked used, but I have once complained about unexpected errors and they told me to take it a part and reset things like the HDD, the RAM and the DVD drive.
-
so what is causing you to believe that your system isn't new? I've had that suspicion as well with my "new" m1210. Gladly I returned it for an other.
-
There were someone else's family photos loaded on here.

Are you sure they arent sample photos?
-
-
yes, that's on mine.
just kidding.
anyways, back to the point.
You really don't have a case now. I don't really understand why you wouldn't get it returned immediately. No offense intended, but what exactly were you thinking!? -
wait... so you noticed these photos after a month or two?
that could easily have been someone else downloading photos to your computer.
-
I wasn't exactly sure if it was a sample until I just did a fresh install on a repaired desktop.
Nobody but me touches this computer. -
It doesn't matter. People accidentally download things all the time. I'm not accusing you anything, but it could possibly be a simple mistake. Besides that, you should have told them IMMEDIATELY.
What are you going to do now? Keep us updated. good luck -
It is password protected, and I wouldn't download some random set of family pictures.
I contacted Customer Service and they told me it was a technical problem and to contact hardware support. -

That looks like a classic "came in the frame" photo, you'd be surprised what can accumulate from various software, especially photo editing software. My creative labs zen vison media player had over a hundred odd photos on it, from nature scenes to cars to birthday parties. That photo there actually looks like it could be used as a calibration image, the neutral background coupled with high color contrast in the foreground.
-
Exactly!
Especially if that is the only one of the "family". -
-

That doesnt look like the same family...

Those are sample pics. This topic has been covered before:

So Dell is pre-loading new systems with children?
They deny there is ANY data on shipped systems however.. -
ok bud, please just give it up
-
Chill out, I didn't know they were pre-loaded. It was not the obvious stock photography.
-
okay...chill guys.
-
Ok, I don't know why I need to chill out. I'm just telling him what I thought of the situation. And then he is running around spazzing out calling kids he don't even know retarded. Good one buddy.

Its not end user data, as stated earlier its most likely sample images from some photo editing software, and it might not have even come from Dell, you could have installed it yourself, have you installed any digital camera software? I'm gathering you found it in my documents correct? Try searching the file name in explorer, that should tell you where it came from. -
this thread was just starting to get funny
-
let's make it funnier!!!!
what do you call an armless and legless guy in water!?

I take it you didnt purchase the breathalyser option on your M1210?
-
lol that was a good one! hilarious lol!
I thought you were kinda dull but now I see a funny side of you. -
I'm not kidding...I've seen each and every one of these photos myself. They were found on one of my external hard drives over a year after I purchased them. I found them when sweeping my hard drive for deleted files that could still be recovered (I have a program that does this...great for when you accidentally reformat a partition). I asked my girlfriend if they were hers (I found them in a sweep after I loaned the drive to here). They were not...and I've been baffled ever since.
I'm starting to think that maybe these photos are part of the QA and/or burn in process for hard drives before they leave the factory. -
maybe it's something like the RING... oooo scary...
-
ROFL!!! Let's keep track to see if members of this site start diying off under mysterious circumstances...

I also found strange pictures on the 6400 i bought in November.I thought maybe i somehow picked them up off of an open network one day in my car while I was looking for wifi hotspots, Now I'm not so sure.
-
Hi!
Exactly the same photos were on mine, they come from the Corel software installed. So don't worry
