Hi all ~ So, I went to the mall (yep's)...and stopped by the Dell Kiosk...looked at that "oh so pretty" 1330, and starting chatting w/the rep's about the 1530. Which, of course, they won't have for at least another month...but both rep's have the 1530 "and are just lovin it".

We starting talking about why I wouldn't order from them vs. online. I told them I get a better deal online w/my discount vs. what they were offering. So, the rep offered to beat the the 8% discount I was getting, and upgrade the 1440x900 res. screen I want, if I were to order from him ~ (plus he may possibly be able to get an additional 3%) (are they hungry)????

So, I got it the quote in writing for what I wanted.

What do you all think of the pricing ~ (I think I am going to get the 1530)!

    Subtotal before w/out discounts from them - $1,554.00 + taxes = $1,645.42.
    According to rep $100.00 off subtotal - $1,454.00 + tax total = $1,540.24
    w/addtl 3% discount - Subtotal $1,454.00 - 3% $43.62 + taxes = $1,495.00

    Next day shipping is free...

If I were purchase w/my 8% discount my pricing would be $1,465.16 (inc. taxes) w/ the 1280x800 resolution. If adding the 1440x900 the total would be $1,519.70. So, basically a $25 difference, not much - but no hassle w/ordering.

If you were smart, you could call your rep that you ordered from and explain that you want to cancel because you were offered a better system for less money elsewhere.

Your quote is good so don't worry about being honest to your rep. Just explain to your rep that you just have to go with the better configuration and the better screen.

He will either cancel your order and say thank you or...my guess is he will equal it and maybe throw in a peripheral like a bag or maybe another upgrade.

You would have to act quick though as there are alot of people being told they have a 20-30 day waiting period and then finding their ordered system on route withing 3 days.

Hi there Flamenko! I'm sorry...maybe I didn't state correctly, I haven't actually ordered yet. I just have a saved config, online at my EPP member site (I actually have 2 the 1330 and this 1530). I was planning on ordering by 1/1/08 or 1/2, the latest.

I'm somewhat of a procranstinator, and now am getting ready to take the leap, per se!

The $1,465.16, is my 8% EPP discount. The other is what the Kiosk rep is giving me above.

So, what you are saying is to call and advise that I would like to place the order - but am getting another (better) offer via a Dell Kiosk, correct! And, just get it done!!! ;)

flamenko I have a question which is irrelevant to this thread probably.I have already read your thread on getting a good deal from Dell.I am planning to purchase a M1530.I was wondering that when you get a quote from one Dell rep and call up another and another to see if you can get a better deal, will it show on their system that I already spoke to 2 Dell reps previously and have received quotes from them. Please feel free to give other suggestions as well.

@jeremy566, I have the 6 cell & 9 cell batt in my config, also, though! So, if I took it, it would be $1,495 total. I got the extra battery, so I wouldn't have to pay more $$ later down road in case I needed it.

But, if that is going to save me on $$, I can drop it and just order the 9 cell.

The one 9 cell is more than enough for battery life, and if you're planning to get a 6 cell along with it so that you can use it once the 9 cell wears down, remember that the 6 cell will also be slowly wearing down as well. Thus, you won't have as much charge as one would if they bought a fresh one when they needed it.

    notknowing...

I would call and work the best deal and bring up that you have the quote and ask if they could beat it. Be polite. You may only get 50 bucks but hey...its 50 bucks.

    nahiyan13:

If you have never ordered a system and they have nothing on their system about you...no. If you are on their system, as i am and have been for years, don't be afraid to salesrep shop but be polite and work out the deal without them having your info. They may ask for your phone number in case you get cut off but thats ok.

I have absolutely no qualms about making a deal and getting the rep to send me a quote, hanging up and seeing if another will do better for me. I don't utilize the quote however. Sometimes, if you are ambitious, you may go through a few reps in a few days before finding one you are comfortable with.

Hi, All! First, Happy New Year to everyone!!! ;)
So, I called Dell last night to try and get the price match - and in my rush of getting ready to head out for the evening, I mistakenly called the regular Dell 800 number vs. the Dell EPP 800 number. It wouldn't have mattered, though, as the EPP was already closed for the evening, as they are today.

The first Dell rep I spoke w/quoted me the deal already online, when I told him about my quote from the Kiosk, he put me on hold to speak w/his manager, came back and said the only deal he could give me was "next day shipping for free". I said no thanks, have a good New Years, and completed my call.

The next rep I spoke w/went thru the build w/me, was very nice - but stated he couldn't match the Kiosk quote, as I was already getting a "great deal online w/the discounts Dell had". But when I mentioned "that was fine and I will just call back on Wednesday, when Dell EPP is open and get my EPP discount, and bump up the resolution for the extra $50", he said he could match my EPP discount, and I wouldn't even have to deal w/EPP at all. He just asked me to provide my EPP information & he would provide me a quote & call me back today (after he got approval from his manager who was not in last night, but was going to be in today). He is going to contact me this afternoon.

So essentially, what he is offering to do for me is what the EPP side would do. Just making it easier on me so, I don't have to wait until Wednesday for them to reopen, and my goal of getting my notebook ordered by 1/1/08 complete!

    1530 - total w/taxes including 1440x900 res - $1515.46 Dell - no next delivery
    1530 - total w/taxes including 1440x900 res - $1495.00 Dell Kiosk - includes next day delivery
$20 difference...I can get ordered today w/Dell, tomorrow Kiosk (sales rep not there until Weds).

So, there are some options, I know - it's just what I do w/them, and I know some of you mentioned that if I'm not "gaming" right now, that I should really be looking at buying the 1330. Which, is the one that I am also very interested in. Since, the rep at the Kiosk isn't there til Weds, this does give that extra time to think about the 1530 & the 1330, also.

If the Dell rep call's me w/approval for the phone purchase, does that mean I have to take that right away? Or, can I just let him that I will let him know Weds. afternoon?

    Thanks!!!! :)

    Thank's!!!

I went through the process of the kiosk price-matching my EPP deal the day before Thanksgiving. They couldn't beat it, but would match it. This was when I was getting 12% plus another 10% from a special discount.

The only problem was that it took a couple of days to get the kiosk guy's manager to approve the price match since it was another $300 beyond they best they could do otherwise. I did get exactly the same thing, and I figured since it wouldn't cost me anything and they'd been there for me to touch the system, I might as well order through them...

    As others have stated,
You can probably convince the reps(on the phone) to beat that deal.
It's a good trick :D Don't worry about being honest, your helping them out really :p

@Thomas! Hi There!!! Thanks for the tidbit's....I'm still waiting to hear back from the Dell rep. he said he'd get in contact w/me @ 2 EST time. No go, so far!

If I don't hear back from the Dell rep, I guess I can call another one later? But they probably build a profile on you each time you call, I'm sure.

That's ok, I do want the best deal, I have to figure out which one I really want...1530 or 1330 (I think I'm slowly killing myself) *sigh* haha

    Thx!
