    My Inspiron - ordered *6/7/2007, shipped today!

    The only problem is I am having massive second thoughts and thinking of getting the Vostro 1500 instead! I specced up a system that looked a lot better, better CPU, better GPU, better HDD, LCD with TrueLife and bluetooth and it was only about £100 more expensive.

    French XPS 1330, LED, T7500, delivery date: 2nd of August. Ordered 6th. Someone has an XPS in production in France, but he is the only one... Don't know if it's true or not.

    Dell is known for having 1 deal after the next, and whenever you make an order, there will always be something new and something better to show up after the order is made.

    You can get the vostro that you want, and then a few days later there will be an even better (or worse) deal.




    As for HCW....wow 2 months!
    That's insane!! Try getting your order expedited by calling up dell.
    Hopefull for you it will arrive MUCH sooner. What stage is your order in?

    My advice: once you get your computer, stop going out, stop surfing the web, avoid ANY contact with anything related to computers. Stop seeing your friends, and family, especially the ones owing a computer. Do NOT check your mails. Nor your emails!

    If you can, go to a very isolated island where you will be alone with your laptop.

    This way you can be sure you will enjoy it during all your stay there.

    That is a good point, but the inspiron was always going to be a compromise with the Intel 950. With the same spec, the 1520 was much more expensive than the Vostro... there might be a good reason for that, but I think I prefer the 1500 in every way.

    Its hard when you cant see the systems before you buy!

    I just ordered mine on the Jul 11th, estimated delivery date Aug 3rd. It went straight into "in production" on day 1, but been there ever since.

    I hear the phone order tracker is much more accurate than the website, but what is the phone number for it? (I am in canada, ordered from dell canada of course).

    I called it, and I take it back about it being more accurate.

    I entered my 9 digit order number, and it tells me:
    "This order has been shipped and is in transit to the carrier. Tracking information will be available once it arrives at their regional office. It was shipped on..... JULY.... 7TH..... 1998"

    LMAO! :)

    So apparently dell takes 10 years to assemble their laptop orders, so they have employed time travel techniques to be able to make reasonable shipping dates! lol

    That's awesome...

    So I guess it's just a waiting game with the web tracker. At least it knows what year it is lol...

    (I will call dell later today and get a rep on the phone to check status maybe they will have something useful)

    Ok called and raised a stink, turns out that the rep only checked some kind of spreadsheet which lists delayed models. Once I asked her to check the actual status of my specific order, she looked and it says estimated ship date of the 19th. So I will have to keep an eye on it.

    I ordered July 1, with an estimated delivery date of July 17.
    That would mean it would have to ship today for it to get here on time. Its still in production as it has been for 12 days :mad:

    now i'm getting nervous! I might be ordering a 1420 soon and after reading how long it is taking all of the current orders I'm freaking out! lol... i wish the order would seriously take 3-5 days from the time of purchase. :( I guess that would be too convenient!
