    A quick opinion.

Do you think a M1730, 8800GTX SLI'd, T9300 <if I remember correctly> 160GB HDD, 2 GB Mem, out the door, $2800 a good deal? The 8800's are a dying card, with the 9800's here now. So is it really worth putting that much money down on a brand new, barely older tech, or just wait for the new XPS to launch?

    Thanks for any ideas.

BTW, this will replace my M1530, which doesn't really game on par for me. Maybe I'm just spoiled from PS3 and my home rig.

I think at that price point/size, I would seriously consider a Sager NP9262. I think the biggest perk is that it supports desktop CPUs which tend to be faster and cheaper than the mobile versions

an NP9262 w/ 3.06 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 9800 GT's in SLI goes for around $2700 and even less w/ the cash discount.

However, if you'd rather stick with dell, I would wait if I could. They're refreshing their lines, and a new gaming laptop should be out soon.

I'd say if you are going to lay down that much money, go for newer tech with Sager NP9262 (option of 9800 GT SLI) or NP5796 with 9800M GTX :)

As much as a beast the NP 9262 is, I'm not fond of the build/layout of the system overall. The audio jacks in front where my wrist go annoy me. In fact, both of those Clevo's mentioned have that feature. Maybe something I'll have to deal with. Is the 9800 GTX going to be comparable to SLI'd 8800GTX's?

At this point, I would say those specs are a bit over priced. If you look to other manufacturers you will probably be able to get new components for the same price or even less. If you want a Dell, then you'll have to wait it out until sometime in November.

Much better, as 9800 GT = 8800 GTX. I'd also avoid SLI, as a single (faster) card is always better, and fewer games properly use 2 cards. I don't think that's a good deal at all, and I think you just missed a 30% off 2k+ dells coupon window.

Gah, that sucks. I thought I was making out with AAFES but I guess not. You maybe right with the SLI thing. I personally have never used SLI, and I haven't read great things about it. I think I might just hold out for the next XPS line to come. I considered even OC'n the 1530 for now, but with the Nvidia chip scare, I'm holding back.

Thanks so far for the inputs guys.

You could also get the 7811fx for $1250 here.

Granted its slightly slower then the sager 15in, but it comes with a 1920x1200 screen, montevina 2.26GHz CPU, 9800mGTS, 4GB ddr3 and some other nice goodies. If I didnt love my vostro so much Id tell HP to keep my tablet and buy that.

I read it somewhere that Dell will be removing the XPS line and integrating them along with the Inspirons and Studios. Is this true?

Yeah it'll be a sub brand from now forward. However, the notebooks will be the same type - higher end, but not true gaming notebooks.

Yeah they already moved the website to that setup. You can buy inspirons, XPS laptops and gaming laptops. Sad sad day as I loved the XPS line.

They look a lot overpriced to me, but I don't follow game laptops. For $2800 I'd probably expect a bigger hard drive but definitely more RAM. The processor isn't the latest and greatest either.
