I called to check on my order and was told it was cancelled. Since it was after 6:00 p.m. when I found out, I had to go though several people to find out what the heck was going on. Turns out they cancelled my order and reentered it with today's date as the order date which could potentially delay my order into late October. They say they will expedite the order and get it shipped asap and overnight but we'll see. I am livid. And their reason? The version of Acrobat Reader on the order was not available. I could have downloaded that free from Adobe!!

Yay! Still says it will ship around October 10th however. I'm cautiously optimistic, though.

OH no! Sorry....you have to wait another week!!!! ....I know you really want it..*like now* because it was supposed to be shipped today. And, I understand others have rec'd theirs already.

At least they let you know that the ESD was revised due to the delay Sometimes, they haven't let other peep's know of this.

Try and be a little more patient..Who know's maybe it will ship before that 9/29 ESD. Why don't you call them, and ask them to bump your shipping method because of this

I really just wanted it to bring to Mexico on Wednesday. A week on the beach without a compute is probably for the better anyways!

I would take a relaxing vacation on the beach vs. having any lappy with me while on the beach! LOL

I ordered mine on the 10th of September and received it on the 23rd, two days before . It came to Olympia , WA.
Alpine white/1gm ram /16 hdd.
and I think I'm going to send it back and keep the one I'm getting the 30th
from QVC with a 3 year warrenty as this only has a 1 year warrenty.

 

I wanted to customize by I9 so I called Dell and negotiated a quote with a 3 year warranty included. The only thing I had to leave off was the drop protection because they don't offer it for the 3 year warranty on the I9. I would have had to go back to 2 year warranty and it would have cost me more than the 3 year without drop. I opted to stick with 3 years/no drop. I'm an adult.

 

That a good point to try and upgrade I should have.
You know I didn't like it at first but thiis thing is growing on me

Called Customer Service (9/19): Told they are waiting for batteries to arrive.

Called Customer Service (9/24): Told they are waiting for LCD's to arrive.

I asked, "Last time I called, you were waiting for batteries. If you are waiting for so many parts, why is it always in the "Boxing Stage?"
He explained, "Boxing is a general term, it only takes 2-3 minutes. Once the parts are receive they'll be installed, tested, and boxed."

I'm not holding my breath.

 

I'm really starting to get concerned about my order. It seems the first batch has been shipped and received, but now the delays seem to be becoming more frequent. Mine has been in the boxing stage for three days. I'm starting to have a feeling, it's going to get delayed at least once, before it ships.

 

Hmmm. There doesn't seem to be anything special about either of yours that would delay them and everyone else who ordered on 9/4 is receiving theirs. I wonder what's going on with yours.

 

Check out Cmarcho post in this thread it's #4. He seems to be having a similar wait problem. He ordered on 9/12 and his is still in the Building Stage. I say similar because he also ordered two Dell Mini's. I wonder if Dell is having more of a problem fullfilling orders when someone orders two.

 

And yet another delay. This one is from user Jokkon, it was posted in the main Dell Mini thread.

 

Yeah, it's quite frustrating.
I think the Mini looks like a great machine for what my wife and I are looking for, (and we can get two of these for less than the price of one MacBook)

I'm anxious to get these given that I am writing this post on a Dell Latitutude CSx PIII/500, 256MB RAM / 16GB HDD; external DVD/CD-ROM, PCMCIA WLAN NIC; Running Xubuntu; Battery Life = 35minutes (the original netbook).

I'll post back this weekend either way. Hopefully I'll have good news.

 

well, just to taunt me, the external cd/dvd drive arrived today.

the two I9's are still in 'build' stage.

 

It seems that Dell is going to try to make good on mine. At least they are talking the talk. Haven't got anything firm though.

 

I think I know why mine is taking so long....

I have a feeling that the more you call the 800 number to check your status, the longer it will take. I think they keep track of this. Every time you call and enter your order number, it triggers something to delay that order by an hour. As many times I have called, mine will ship sometime around Christmas.

 

Probably not as sinister as all that. More like the watched pot never boils rule. It's a fact of nature.

 

Still in the "boxing" stage for me, same as my last post from the 22nd. I ordered on the 18th and my ETD is Oct 10th.

I am considering ordering a Lenovo S10 now. Not because of the time it's taking for the Dell, but the Lenovo looks sooooooo secksy

 

Wow -- Are you sure you don't mean sucksy? It doesn't hold a candle to the I9.

Mine is back on track and they are supposed to expedite the order and try to ship before 10/17. We'll see how it ends up.

Ok, I just got the same call. Cancelled my order because of "Illegal configuration".

I said, "what's illegal?"

dell rep: "The version of Adobe that you selected"

I said, "I didn't select it, you forced it on me. It's your fault my order is cancelled"

several other things were said. he is calling me back to try to get me to re-order it all again. He says I will get a discount, and they see no reason the order will not ship out soon as they are going to 'expedite' the order.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Based on your post, I decided to call Dell and speak to a CSR. She told me my order was in the boxing stage and still scheduled to ship on 10/7. I asked how long is should stay in the boxing stage and she said, "We are not allowed to comment on that and it is based on the availability of parts." Shouldn't parts have been taken care of in the Building stage? Also, when I first called, the recording said they are experiencing a large volume of calls with people asking about their order status. The recording went on to say the different options of how to get your order status besides calling Customer Service. The recording also mentioned that Dell was experiencing problems with part orders.

 

Well, there may be some truth in this.... if you look at your order and you have this:


1 410-1883 ADOBE READER 9.0 MULTI- LANGUAGE


then you are going to get cancelled.

Now the orders that are ok will have this:

Adobe Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 8.1, English

So version 9 doesn't come with the mini, it's supposed to be 8.1

What makes me angry is that they say my mini's are completed but they still have to cancel the order and start all over. That's BS. just put the correct cd in there, and ship it.

 

I just checked my order and:

Hopefully, I'll be okay. I will keep everyone posted.

 

I decide not to have them pre-install adobe and it's not even listed on my order. Hopefully it doesn't get cancelled for something that silly.

 

I asked them to just leave it off the order, and the guy claims that they could not, and had to cancel the order.

Actually he said the order will be cancelled soon, so I'm still fighting to get these sent if they are actually ready.

It's been two weeks since I ordered. I don't think I'll wait another two or three weeks for this thing. It was an impulse buy, and waiting for it to arrive, I really started thinking that I'll like this thing, so now I really want it.

What a stupid thing to get cancelled for! Cmarcho, I really do feel for you. I did read that some other person who ordered on the 17th just had theirs shipped today, so maybe all of us that ordered on the 18th are in for a big surprise tomorrow? Here's hoping...

 

My order is still in pre production and the esd is 10/1. I wonder if has something to do with the ATT WWAN card I order with mine. I'm getting a little worried about the whole WWAN card and tired of not being able to find out any concrete info.

 

Unfortunately no. Even though technical support was able to give me part numbers for the lcd assembly with the WWAN antenna and the MOBO with the WWAN slot soldered in, somehow they were not able to put it in the order. They say they will have WWAN late this year and an upgrade kit is likely but I just decided to get what I originally ordered and leave it at that. They are sending me a free gift for my trouble. I'm okay with it and excited that my order is back in build. They said they would expedite it. I'm waiting to see by how much.

Update: Upgrade kit is not happening. Too difficult and expensive to install aftermarket.

I'm still on the phone this morning with them trying to get mine on the way. Luckily it is still in the system, in production, and not cancelled yet.

If I can just convince them that I don't need the stupid acrobat software on there!!!!!

EDIT: I called CS and they said that they dont see the Adobe Reader version being a problem, but that due to the backorder on some parts, there may be shipping delays.

Oh, and the CS rep upgraded my shipping to Next Business Day shipping so it now says Est. Delivery Date 9/30, but that probably wont happen.
