Because the Studio XPS 1645 Intel Core i7 Owner's thread was getting pretty *thick* with *Order Status* Inquiries, etc... I thought it was time to get an *Order Status* thread started, since so many are ordering it! And, to lessen the *heavyness* felt with the Owner's thread.
Also, we really should keep Status Updates, Order Delays, Progress as such, separated in this section of the forum!It will make the other thread "easier on the eye" per se!

Oddly enough, my order still shows "N/A" for Bill To and Ship To. But I was charged so they obviously knew who to bill.

Question... When I'm logged in, the order doesn't show up on my order status for my account. I always have to go and search for the order number from the emails I received. And when I look at the order status while I'm logged in the Billing To and Ship To say "N/A'. Is this supposed to be like this, anyone else have this?
Update: So I emailed Dell yesterday with questions on my order status and why it has been delayed twice. This morning I have an email from Dell saying:
"Order Delayed
We wanted to let you know that there is a delay with one or more items in your order.
Based on the latest available information, we have adjusted the estimated delivery date
and are confident your order will be delivered on or before this new date.
(see Revised Estimated Delivery Date below)
We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience."
This was for my revised EDD I got this weekend of 11/09/09
Edit: Starting to get ridiculous... it's 11/09/09... The new order is still in the "build" stage... I really hope I see some progress and see it ship this week, at least next week so it can be here before my vacation. Otherwise if it comes while I'm on vacation I don't know if I'll be able to get anyone to take the shipment for me as I'll be gone for a week around the time of my EDD... It better come before then... 2 month wait for a laptop is crazy if it goes to 11/30. -
Same news as everyone.
We all got our orders screwed. He said that when they get an order like this, they have NO idea of any orders you placed before or that this is a "re-order" or even if it is a mistake on their part.
It's basically as if you ordered again.
Oh, Team Jaguar has been dissolved, but the extension still works. The delay has been caused by a part, but he has no idea. He is looking into it. Windows 7 may be a possibility, he says.

Anything goes with Dell on-line or automated phone services. Nothing is accurate from my present experience (see post above). You have to talk to a rep, scream and yell, get passed around to wrong extensions at least 10 times just to come back to customer care again and luck out on someone that may try to actually look up the accurate info for you.
Punch in Dell computers on youtube - "not getting your i7 anytime soon", or the guy that talks about "Hell computers" are pretty funny, and sadly accurate. I'm having the same experience. -
If anyone is expecting theirs around Thanksgiving now then I would probably cancel because I know Dell is gonna have some good deals then. The whole situation is ridiculous.

Going to be making a call to my rep tomorrow to see what the deal is with my new EDD. I refuse to wait two months for this laptop. I did get this laptop for a very sweet deal and would hate to cancel. I hope they can offer some kind of compensation. Otherwise I may look into the HP Envy 15 (yes it will be more expensive) but it also looks like a sweet laptop minus the trackpad issues.

I am sorry to say, but I believe Dell has made a perm. departure from the days of old. With the purchase of Perot Systems we will see Dell ride off into the sunset as a company focused on managed services and the PC business will limp along behind the new vision and strategy. Why they have chosen to play catch up behind IBM, whom they drove out of the PC business and HP who is caving in as fast as Dell is anyones best guess...bad timing, karma...I guess we will just have to wait and wonder! In the mean time I hope they can just get my race horse out of the gate...I'll take it from there. -

I have just checked my order status on dells website and my order has been shipped. I also have my tracking # from Fedex and it states that it will be delivered tomorrow as I have next business day delivery.

I am glad to see that some of you are about to receive your SXPS Laptops.

as you can see it is being delivered 5 days earlier, hope that it will be helpful to others.
Even though the ESD is still 11/13/09, it looks like that it will ship sooner than 11/13/09. I do not think that it will take like a week to box this laptop.
Other than the wait time I had no issues with this order (no cancelations or product issues with any parts)
I hope that it goes well and gets better for the rest of you. I will keep you posted as to any date changes or when I receive it.

1. Ordered on 10/01
2. Cancelled and reordered on 10/08
3. Cancelled and reordered on 10/19. Got SSD 256go for free + discount on RGBLED.
4. Cancelled and reordered on 11/4. ESD: 12/4. Complained with a rep. I wanted to have some king of compensation. He offered 3years warranty.
5. Reodered on 11/5. ESD : 12/5 BUT the order made on 11/4 hasn't been cancelled.

Step 3: Assured on 11/9/2009 by customer service my order would not be canceled and would arrive by 11/16/2009 as originally stated.

Step 6: Called on 11/10/2009 spoke to Customer Service Rep, told they could do nothing for me.
Step 6b: Moved on to speak with manager at Customer Service (according to her she is the highest customer service person I could talk to, as her boss does not take calls). Again told there was nothing they could do. I would now be at the bottom of the queue and would have to wait.
Step 6c: Had sales manager call me. Explained the parts problem in detail (which customer service had no idea about). Explained the supposed additional delay (another round of security checks on each machine). Canceled my new order. Submitted a new order with expedited preference and an earlier ship date.

I got downgraded from Next Business Day to 2nd Business Day, although I wasn't paying for either, so I can't really complain much about that. The price of my second order wound up dropping around $100, but I was told that the rep couldn't mark my order as high priority himself and that he'd have to contact someone to do that. I have my doubts about that, so I may call them up later this week... though chances are they'll wind up telling me that expediting an order would require creating an entirely new order.
Their order management system is pretty poor, considered the industry they're in. -

Since I had the bad part number I called up about 5 different departments. I didn't want to wait for them to cancel my order. Finally got ahold of a manager at cancellations who was aware of this issue and said he'd push it through last night (11/09.) However, it finally happened this afternoon. New EDD is 12/10, which is ridiculous. However, people that have gone through this seemed to get their order shipped much earlier than the new EDD after it was canceled. In the meantime, I was promised a $35 gift card that never came. Time to them out again. -

11/04 Order processed(was on hold due to DPA apparently) 11/06 Status changed to "Shipped" 11/08 Tracking number issued. New EDD 11/11.
Since tomorrow is 11/11, if I actually get my computer tomorrow I will have gotten it 1 day BEFORE the original EDD I was given. Not too shabby IMO.

I feel ya Pooter, There are people who ordered after my 3rd order was placed, got cancelled before me, and have tracking numbers before mine is even canceled.
What really irks me is i was fed the whole line about my order being pushed to the front of the manufacturing queue and i believed it. Clearly there is no such thing. -

Has anyone actually talked to some one in EPP that isn't totally useless? Every person I've talked to has had no idea about this problem, and everyone in regular sales or order cancelation transfers me to EPP the very second they pull up my order (as it is an EPP order).
Even the person in "Executive Escalations" is useless. She doesn't seem to think there is really a problem saying "Well you can cancel and recreate your order if you want." Bah!
Here, have her e-mail. Let her know that you are having this issue and maybe she'll help us. This is direct from her e-mail signature. Also look: a manager e-mailtoo bad the manager wont return my e-mails.

My new EDD with the correct wifi is 12/9. That'd be the two month anniversary since I ordered. I'm a sucker for abuse. If I didn't want that RGB screen so much, I woulda switched to the Envy.

Notice I still had the old part number for the WIFI card. Over the last two days I have spent approximately 6 hours on the phone getting transferred between various Dell reps. Trying various alternative phone numbers provided on the 1645 threads. Each time enquiring about the "bad" wifi part number. Each time being told that this wasn't going to be an issue with my order, that the only issue with my order was a back ordered base. Each time I countered with the argument:" If these were on back order why have people who had ordered 3-4 weeks after me now received their 1645's" and I referenced this thread. Today after once again being told the same information I had been given by every other rep, (that the base was on back order), I finally asked for a supervisor. After waiting another 5 minutes I was finally connected to my representative who hadn't called me back after a number of emails and calls. At this point she finally admitted there was a problem with the wifi part number and the order would have to be canceled and replaced. She couldn't explain the delay in processing my order but admitted there was a problem with identifying this problem on all orders placed in September. I then asked about updating the order with windows 7. She was initially adverse to the request but after once again referencing this thread about how other's had been able to update their orders with Win 7 and had been upgraded to 6 GB ram. She finally gave in and updated the order with both. The "new" order was placed today and I have already received a new order number.

With the new order my EDD was of course pushed back but I was assured that it would be expedited and she upgraded me to next day shipping. She stated it should be delivered be delivered long before the EDD.
Anyway I wanted to thank all those who have posted before me. Without your information I may not have gotten this resolved until who knows when.
The moral of this story.........
If your "Representative" is giving you a line in order to get you off the phone, push harder. There is a problem with the wifi part number "430-2955". Quote the information you have discovered here and get your order resolved.
