Would like to know if it comes with 90W adapter? Can you ask the Dell rep?
Also, when you get it, please show me the inside of this laptop if you really dont mind. just Would like to know if there is anything changing from 1645 (eg.. bigger fan, rearrange the hardwares' position)
Thanks -
It's most likely 90 watt adapter since it'sdual core since, the i7 620 is dual core not quad core.
-
I dont know for sure what adapter it comes with, it doesn't seem to show up in the list of parts. I will pop it open when i get it and take some pics.
EDIT: ugh I just noticed that THIS screen is listed on my order status page:
Premium FHD WLED Display, Obsidian Black, 2.0 MP Webcam
When I selected, and paid for, the RGBLED screen. I am on the phone waiting for a rep right now, hopefully this doesn't become a big problem. I will also ask them about the 90w/130w power supply. -
-
-
how much did it cost you if I may ask?
-
Build price before tax & ship was $2609 (8GB of ram & 256GB SSD are pricey options!)

Mine shipped today! Holy crap, 7 days built to ship for a BRAND new model, that's impressive.
-
Oh well, I actually want it as delayed as possible. Because I'm going to return it for the same thing but with 5730 when it comes out. -
So, it arrived today. A little bit larger/heavier than I had hoped but oh well, I suppose I will get used to it. I will try and get some pictures and whatnot of it up soon.

To answer somebody's question from a few pages earlier... NO, the 1647 does NOT throttle. That was a major issue with the 1645 which has been rectified.
Great thread, thanks to whomever started itHopefully my order comes sooner than later, like all of you... I'm pretty excited!
-
I posted on the owner's club thread but I think this belongs here:

Order Status: In Production (as of 1/28/10)
Estimated Delivery Date: 2/8/2010 -
Ok so here is my story... (Dell Canada)
Ordered on Jan 11th for a 1-day only deal of XPS 16 with core i5 520M and ATI 5730 GPU. Loved the ATI 5730 cuz it consumes lower power and is smaller. Sales rep I chatted with told me delivery is 10-18 business days. Great!
After purchase, EDD shows up as Feb 25th, 2010... 35 business days! Emailed order support couple times about it. Got in touch with my sales rep, who says ATI 5730 is new and OUT OF STOCK and they don't even know when it will be in stock or if they'll even have it as an option in the future! So the guy recommended me to downgrade to ATI 4670 which is still good i guess.
Guy canceled and reinstated my order on Jan 23rd with the ATI 4670 GPU. New EDD: March 1st, 2010! He told me its just an EDD and I MAY get my laptop earlier than that. WOW!
So now i'm still waiting. It's really frustrating and agonizing. I feel cheated cuz Dell advertised something they don't have as a build option just to attract sales. I just emailed their order support again to confirm that my machine has actually moved into production rather than still sitting in pre-production stage.
eBay sellers have better customer service than Dell... -
Seriously, kick and scream at the sales rep until they give you a sweet deal for their screw-up. $1,000+ for a laptop is a big deal to me and should be to you. The XPS 16 is one of the nicest laptops they offer so you should be getting treated as an "above-average" consumer. Any sales rep knows that. Tell them that the HP Envy is looking really good right now.... -
Your situation sucks because not only they did take away your lower power video card, but they also increased your EDD.
I definately feel your pain as you might see in some of my other posts. Might have been better off sticking with the original configuration. -
FINALLY I've got a tracking #! Estimated Arrival Date is Feb 4th. It looks like constant bugging Dell customer service does help. I have a total of 20 communications back and forth with Dell order support on my Gmail.
But I guess I had to make a compromise of downgrading my video card, which now makes the deal I got not so good. I think Dell probably aren't even gonna be using the 5730 for a while, cuz they day I ordered was the only time i saw that card as an option on Dell Canada store... never again.
Sad thing is when I called Purolator with this tracking #, they said the package haven't even arrived at their facilities yet. Anybody know how soon they actually ship out from Purolator once they give u the tracking #? I hope they're not just bullting me to keep me quiet for a while. -
If you've got the tracking number from Purolator, then you will get the LT..soon.
No worries -
Well i sure hope so... but When I talked to Purolator last Friday afternoon, they told me they don't have a scan on the package yet, which means it hasn't arrived at their facilities yet, and Dell claimed to have shipped it out on Thursday. Well... hope it'll arrive before or on this Thursday.
-
Hey!

Well.... I'm VERY happy to report that my order has already moved to "Delivery Preparation" ..... SWEET!
Hopefully it will be shipped this week and arrive next week which would be WELL sooner than the original EDD!! -
waiting....
details in my signature.. -
My XPS is currently sitting in Memphis, TN. I don't know how there going to get it here by Thursday, but I'm crossing my fingers!
-
That's the central FedEx hub where nearly all planes are sent out of overnight. It'll find a way to get to you on time.
-
I've actually been so anxious to get it, I mapped out its route in Google Maps to see how long it would take a truck to get here...
I didn't know they would put it on a plane. Now I'm confident it will be here on Thursday. Thanks for the info! -
Called dell again today. Spoke to order modification department. No change in status. RGB screens are delayed from the supplier. No info on when dell would get the RGB screens. Current EDD for me 2/10.
If dell does not get the RGB screens from the supplier in a day or two., i think all our orders would be further delayed. -
Todays Update 2/4: Called the order modification department again today to check on the RGB LED status. Was told the RGB screens are now in stock, and my order was 'released to production'. .. and it would take around 12 hrs for the status information to be replicated to other dell systems (which show the status).
Hope the rep is correct. Fingers crossed.
Can someone waiting for RGB screens call 1-800-247-2076 and check ?
FYI, i placed the order on 1/16 during signature event. -

@ Josh
Have they actually told you the RGBLED is on backorder for your system? Just because they are running low on RGBLED screens does not mean your order can be affected? I have called and several reps all confirmed there are no parts on backorder for my order. This Wednesday my order is suppose to ship so we shall see. -
i just called them again, now they are telling that there is shortage of 6-cell battery....
the supervisor suggest i cancel the order and replace it
Any other good laptop deal guys ?
I guess its time to say bye to dell. -
Best of Luck
-
-
Just called dell order modifcation department to find out why my order was still in pre production.
He said that it was stuck in pre production for some reason, and that he would have his manager manually put it into production. 3 minutes later, he said it should go into production in 5 - 6 hours. Which coincides for when they close their customer service numbers LOL.
Guess we will see tomorrow. -

-
Oh LMAO.
I mean like, "Pre production", "In Production", etc.. -
