Graininess, clarity, image/font sizes, brightness, vividness.....

Which Resolution would you guys say is the best in the broad looks of things.

I personally, dont really like glossy screens so I am may change my mind sooner or later.

    I have only seen the 1280 x 800 and 1440 x 900, and I liked 1280 x 800 better.

How where the colors in the 1280x800?
Also, where the icons/font unbelievably big?

If you're asking about the 1520/1500 specifically it might be hard to get quality answers about which is the best unless someone has been to a kiosk or has seen all the displays.

Generally, I've seen a 15 inch screen with 1280x800/vista and the icons/windows seemed pretty large. I have a 1520 with the 1440x900 and it seems perfect for screen real estate and text size. I think the 1440 appearance is better personally but again that's just preference. I havn't seen the 1680x1050 screen so I really can't comment on that.

My screen is kind of 'grainy' i guess but I don't think it's a big deal at all. I wouldn't have noticed it and you only notice it on white backgrounds-even so it's only if you're less than 12-14 inches from the screen, which I never really am.

The screen is clear, pretty vivid and definitely bright enough for me. The viewing angles are pretty good. You lose some brightness fairly quickly as you angle away towards a side view but it just looks smoother or less vivid and stays that way up/down/side to side...basically it's plenty bright and clear from the front and consistently good but just less bright from pretty much all other angles. When another person was using my laptop and I was next to them the screen was easily legible.

I'm happy with it, but screens are different for everyone. Hope that helps!

When the screen is dark, and if you have a light source behind you, you'll see yourself and whatever is behind you with details.

Well you'll see some light reflections if they're behind you. It's not really bad, and it gives some kind of brilliance to the image displayed.

Joklem is right on about the reflection. I honestly enjoy the glossy screen and I've had it by a sunny window and I didn't have much more trouble seeing anything than with my matte screen laptop. The biggest difference I've seen is that if you have a concentrated amount of light on certain shades shown on the screen or just being outside with the sun on it is when you'll have problems. I take mine all over my campus and it hasn't really annoyed me any more than the matte screen. Possibly because it's a new thing or I just like the looks of the glossy screen.

Part of it is how you focus...you can focus your eyes further out to see the reflection (when there is one) and you'll see yourself pretty clear, yet you can focus just on the image in the screen and tune out the reflections. Some people get easily distracted by it I personally don't.
