i have recently formatted my hard drive and installed cean copy of Vista Ultilate on my DELL Inspiron 1525 machine. I did not use dell recovery partion to install, instead i use Vista Disk. I was able to install all the drivers except bluetooth. Whenever i try to to install bluetooth drivers i get following error " The installer be run on windows vista only".. i was with dell tech support for couple of hours but they were not able to solve my problem. The bluetooth is enabled in BIOS, switch is on etc.
I installed Windows VISTA ultimate 32 bit. any idea why

Try downloading the driver from Dell's support page instead of using the one on the CD.

I have a Dell 1530 with Vista Home and Bluetooth 355 + EDR 2.0. This worked for me, but it may not for you:
C:\dell\drivers\R140135\
is where the drivers were extracted to. I ignored the setup in this folder.
C:\dell\drivers\R140135\3100_216\Win32\
contained the drivers I needed.
I ran C:\dell\drivers\R140135\3100_216\Win32\Inst.exe
The install took a while and towards the end it asked me to turn on the adapter. I turned it on (I have a switch) but it repeated the same message. By this time, a bluetooth icon had appeared in the notification area (it was red). So, I canceled and rebooted. After log in, I clicked on the bluetooth icon in the notification area and selected "Turn Bluetooth Adapter On". My bluetooth adapater has worked ever since.
Good luck. -
Have you tried right clicking on the .exe files (the one you got from dell) go to the Compatability tab and choosing Run in Vista SP1 32bit mode. Worth a shot IMO
"The installer be run on windows vista only"..while installing buletooth
