I'm seeing estimated shipped dates on other people's orders that are a month after they've ordered the computer which is ridiculous since mine says it should arrive within two weeks..

Mine arrived 8 days after ordering counting the weekend.
-
Gotta love Canada eh

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
About two weeks for a Latitude D830 ordered last summer. About a week for an Inspiron 1420 a relative of mine bought in the fall.
Usually Dell does a pretty good job of getting notebooks in your hands before their estimated delivery date, especially if it isn't a new model or anything. -
I ordered mine on the 10th, still in production stage.. did it show you "shipped" on the 8th day?
-
My 1530:
Originally ordered 1/2 thru Kiosk (never again)
. Cancelled & reordered thru Dell EPP 1/4.
Dell had to cancel & "refresh" order on 1/11 (due to production problem w/Wireless N)
Received on 1/23/08 -
so, 3 week's all around. Some communication problems, I felt - but worked thru that & I was just happy to get my lappy!!
-
Mine was ordered on the 9th and they said it would ship the 29th of february but it shows it shipped today and will be here on the 2/20.
-
Really? It shipped on Sunday? Are you in the US?
-
less than 2 weeks from build to delivery.
-
me, it was ordered on the 7th and its still in pre-production...
-
No.......America. And I got the overnight shipping option so it showed shipped on the 7th day.
-
I just ordered an Inspiron 13 last night (09/14/08..it was a sunday, so let's assume we ordered it today on a monday 09/15/08). However, my estimated shipping date is 09/29/2008.
*Two weeks for it just to be shipped???* That's really unreasonable. Is their estimate reasonable? Is it conservative or may it take even longer than stated? -
Well, luckily my shipping time beat the estimate. But I thought it was pretty funny that the estimate was about 1 month away. That neither proves that the company is fast or slow - to be determined when you get the thing! Signature required (not necessarily by me, but required nevertheless) means that I had to take the extra day to go to the actual depot and get the thing since there is no way that I would be able to meet them on a working day.
Now that Dell is actively trying to put manufacturing into the hands of contract manufacturers, it will be interesting to see how shipping is effected in the future. Anyone know other laptop vendors that are contracting out? How long is it taking? -
4 years ago when I ordered the 5150 and 1000, it took about a week, last year the 1705 took a week and a half. This year, the 1720 took 3 weeks.........

Dell Studio 17 built to order in my signature. Ordered on a Sunday and it shipped on Monday lol. I was really impressed. I got it on a Tuesday. I did however order next day delivery but still.
-
My estimated shipping date was 9/11, arrive on 9/12. Today is 9/15, and thus so far it is still "in production". GRRR....
-
I ordered an XPS on the 11th and got an estimated shipping date of 10/8, I'd guess it's because of the promotions + beginning of school year at universities
-
I ordered mine on 9/3 and it was delivered 9/5. Gotta love the Outlet!
-
lol, my friend's m1730 is still "in production" since the 6th, i am wondering if dell forgot his order lol........my brother has my m1730 so I am waiting on his
-
