Does anyone know when the next release of new computers is going to be? I'm talking about new series after the inspiron 1420/1520(1)/1720(1)s, the vostros, and every model of the xps? Anyone know anything?

    Thanks very much!!

Most likely around this time next year or so...

But the m1710 is being upgraded next month or so, unsure about the m2010 because it isn't a huge seller <_<

Considering these were just launched, and the previous generation was around for a while, I wouldn't expect any new releases untill well into the next year. Definitely by back to school in '08

Penryn is coming around, but won't warrant a refresh. When Core 2 Duo came out, they used the same systems as just Core Duo. Penryn isn't big enough, gotta wait for the next one ;)

As noted by others, the initial Penryn release will fit into the Santa Rosa chipset, so that won't warrant a series refresh. Most likely the refresh will occur with the next Intel chipset release, scheduled for H2 2008 I believe.

It will be new, considering you ordered it brand new from dell.

Also, like mentioned, the next generation won't come out for a while knowing dell. And this current lineup just came out, so you're ok.

Tho I woulnd't worry so much about your laptop being "new" when you get it. As long as it works and does what you need it to do then who cares. I mean I can see one wanting to be in sync with the latest fashions, cars, music etc., but computers...
