    Hey guys.
I just wanted to let you guys know that I've sent my e1705 to dell to fix the light leakage. Before i sent it to them I thought id give it a whirl to try to get my 7800GO replaced. I told them the extreme heat, too hot to keep my hand on the keyboard, and told them some other farfetched stuff. I told them that i would like to know if they could replace it with the 7900GS becuase of lower temperature. They said that they would take care of it when it comes down to the depot. Im not sure if it means that im going to get the 7900GS but there is a good chance :)

definately. I've been thinking about doing the same thiung. Well, not returning it for light leakage, but my lap does get ridiculously warm when im in the middle of a game of BF2.

I will definatly keep you guys updated on it. I've heard they have fixed the leakage for the newer ones they've sold, not sure. I dont know how much of a help this will be but I've noticed over time and adjustment over the nvidia display options, i've got the leakage very minimal. I still don't want to have to deal with it :p.

Is the leakage the thin border of light around the edges of the screen? Mine has that while my dad's doesn't... I already have a new unit on the way, hopefully it doesn't suffer from that or the heat issues of my current one. Keep us posted!

nVidia 7800GO (Hopeing to get 7900GS)

I would cancel and reorder. I would not trust the repair depot to just pop in the 7900GS or even look at it.

Light leak still present? I've the same problem w/ e1705. But I do not mind it since over all, it's a rediculously powerful machine that lets me do anything! Bite the bullet, as they say, guy...you'll live longer.

Like alot of people have said, by trying to send the screen back in the hopes of getting a better one, you run the risk of getting something with worse problems.

that's exactly what happened to me, didn't like my first laptop and requested a replacement, Dell sent me a new one and it was worse than the first, fortunately I still had the original laptop with me so I kept it and sent the replacement back to Dell.
