Since getting my laptop, I've had a long pause after the system loaded at the main screen. After reading several posts about it, I thought was a problem with Vista.

I got my free remote control today and fire up MediaDirect to give it a shot, and MediaDirect doesn't work, stating that maybe Vista's bitlocker is enabled. After shutting it down and turning on the regular power button, I find that MediaDirect is loading up and not Vista. My "oh sh$t alarm" goes off and I try a few more times with the same result.

Finally, I boot up MediaDirect again with the little home button and then try the regular power button again and now Vista loads, but the long pause after bootup is gone now. My laptop loaded up without that pause after Vista loaded.

What the hell is up with that?

I would check for a bios update.

That does sound weird as hell though.

The laptop is working as it should now. The power button turns on Vista and the MediaDirect button turns on MediaDirect. The thing is that the delay is gone now.

I have this long pause as well! What did you do exactly to get rid of it? My vista is fully up to date.

I had the pause when I got my system, so I reinstalled Vista and the problem was still there. During the whole process and up to today, I never touched MediaDirect. With the reinstall, I left the restore partition and MediaDirect intact.

I got a free remote control today and pressed the house icon to start MediaDirect to try out the remote for the first time. MediaDirect wouldn't start, stating something about a lockout. I then shut it down and tried to start the laptop with the regular power button, but MediaDirect started. I shut it down and turned it on several more times with the power button, but the same thing happened.

Finally, I pressed the house button to start up MediaDirect and, after getting the lockout message, shut it down, then turned on the computer again with the regular power button. This time, Vista started up.

From what I've read, you still have to do an reinstall of MediaDirect if you reinstall Vista.
