...A joke! Why have only one person who can manage your account? For sure having a personal sales manager to deal with your requests is good, but why can't the other sales staff, when your personal sales manager is unavailable to take your call or even reply to your emails, can you not get someone else to deal with your order too?
I'm really not sure if I'll order from Dell again! My family as a whole have a very long history with Dell and they've usually been good, but this and a previous order have put an awfully sour taste in my mouth. The only thing going for Dell is the fact that you can easily customise your orders to suit your needs, whereas other companies seem to just have a range of laptops that you can't really customise.
Anyway, it's just not sitting well with me right now as I have an extremely important business trip at the end of the month and it looks like I'll have to hire a laptop for it.
Ergh.

OK...woah! and woah...
So, the jist of it is that you ordered a 1535, and *something happened* that pushed the ESD out further to 9/15 correct? Is a part on backorder??
I'm just trying to figure out the schematics here..to see what we can try to help you with.
It's good to rant..but something positive needs to come out of this
So please let us know what happened!

So anyway, just yesterday they told me that the revised delivery time was 15-09-08, which basically p**sed me right off! If I'd know at the time of ordering, I could have made an informed decision and would most likely have paid a bit extra and bought a Vaio. But now I'm this far into the order and I got some sketchy comment about a battery factory fire putting a lead time on the 9-cell batteries. I heard about this before I placed my order and asked the sales rep whether this was going to have an effect if I ordered the 9-cell, they said absolutely not... I asked them about 3 or 4 times. So now if they end up telling me, tomorrow (when my sales rep is back) that this is the reason for the delay, I will be MIGHTLY p**sed off and will probably demand that they send me my laptop with a 6-cell and provide the 9-cell once it's ready!
I've paid the f**king money for it and they told me 3 or 4 times that there was no delay on the 9-cell batteries, at least for UK sales! It's just a slap in the face if they come back and say that's causing the delay. -
Seems to me like you still have time to cancel your order and go with the Vaio or the Mac. Seems like Dell has issues keeping their employees abreast of shipping delays, at least in your case. Vote with your feet if you don't want to wait it out. If they haven't yet charged your credit card--and they shouldn't until they ship--you don't really have any kind of legal recourse against them.

A few choices: You can cancel, and order the MacBook Pro or the Vaio, and call it a done deal. Or, you can call and ask to speak with a Supervisor about what they can do for you..if they can *bump* your shipping method, or advise on the latest shipping date. You can also ask for some compensation of sorts for what you have been thru. (these may or may not work).
I dunno to me...it sounds like you are *at wit's end*, and if / for you to feel better..maybe it best that you look at the other brands for purchase?
The choice is yours...the thing now is to do something that is going to calm your nerves and make you happy once again!

This is off topic but I see in your configuration that you have a 1920x1200 resolution display - did you have to ring up dell uk to choose this display and if so how much extra does it cost. This option won't show up on their website.

But yes, I had to ask for it over the phone, it's an extra £10 on top of the WLED upgrade which last time I checked was £90, so £100 on top of the base model display. -
Hey thanks for your quick reply! An extra £10 on top of the 1440x900 screen is fantastic. I was half expecting it to be another £50 - 60.

hey, just wanted to say sorry to hear about that long delay. I hope you get your hands on it soon (or another laptop). ^^ Sucks that Dell is taking so long with people's orders. Good luck!

Personally I wouldn't cancel and see if you can get the 6 cell for now and the 9 cell later. From my own experience (albeit through Dell America), Dell usually is VERY willing to work with you when issues arise with your order/machine.
The way Dell deal with sales is...
