I am on the phone right now to Dell tech support and they have just confirmed to me that they will not provide any extended warranty past what anybody has on their systems.

I have even spoke with a manager there and he said they are not providing any warranties and it is just a rumour spreading around forums and web sites.

So looks like we have been dooped.

And just to prove I have spoken to someone from tech support, I have been on the phone for over an hour on hold and doing diagnosis.

They likely havent disseminated the information down to all of their CSRs yet.

That link is from some guy who could be anyone.

He does not hold any authority in the company.

I have just spoke to a supervisor and a manager in xps tech support and they have confirmed over a recorded call there is no extended warranty.

Does anyone have a link from dell direct from someone in authority to say they have offered this 1 year extended?

That guy only runs a blog he aint no ceo or director issuing that statement

Direct2dell is the official dell blog. I would trust the website before I would trust some guy on the phone. The official word has probably not been passed down to everyone yet.

So why has not one Director or CEO or 1 purchase manager or 1 head of complaints issued this official 1 year extended then?

Look make fun of me hack on me I dont really care.

But you need to ask yourself one question... Has anyone of real authority anounced this 1 year extended warranty promise.... no

I think a lot of people are hanging on to he said she said promises from some blogger that has no authority to issue extended warranties.

We're never going to know for sure until we actually see it reflected on the support site for your individual service tag or have an official press release. Until then, the Official Head Blogger for Dell is the most reliable source we have to go on, and screaming and yelling about a CSR who didn't get the memo (or was told not to release any information yet) doesn't prove anything or provide any substantial evidence to the contrary.

I don't think the details and terms have been officially released. Until they are, then you're not going to get anything from a first line tech about it. It doesn't mean anything.

Anyway, my experience is that the tech support guys or CSR's are among the most ill-informed bunch you'll likely encounter. Anywhere. And the "manager" you spoke with was probably just the tech in the next cube playing manager in order to get you off the phone.

    And neither does this blogger.

My point is on all the forums people are under the misconception that this 1 year warranty is valid. but its not.

There is no 1 year extended warranty.

Fountain head your probably right with the manager business, but to my original point people are saying there is a warranty when there is not one.

And he clearly states that it will be a few weeks before we have more official information about it. Hes just giving everyone a heads up to know whats going on. Everyone understands that its not "Official", but it will be soon and theres no harm in keeping everyone in the loop.

I have had enough of this thread.

People get way to personal, like this blogger is there dad or something.

I said it was not official and its not set in stone, and people just go off on one.

What the point of forums if you cant speak your mind.

Way too much JOLT+ for some people.

Canada :) No one is asking you not to speak ur mind.. All we are trying to get into your mind is, yes that blog is official, that information is official.. else, that guy would've been kicked out of Dell by now...

For the complete details, technical details, terms and conditions etc etc., you HAVE to wait... and I don't think you were saying it was not official or it was not set in stone and stuff like that.. that was said by paper wastage.. :) You went off on a completely different tangent pal :) Anyway, cheers and have fun.

I hope dell do the right thing.

If not I hope dell and nvidia never recover from this as I am starting not to like my xps1530.

They say its premier rage but were are being treated like we stole them.

Its like a bad gangster flick...

WE AINT SAYIN NUTHIN. and hope it blows over like a bad dream.

Do you think they will show each chipset that was part of that batch.. is there a way to tell?

Surley Nvidia knows which batch was bad and the times they went out.

For some reason this made me laugh. I can picture that scenario in my head. Haha!
Canada, you really should just wait a while and see when more info appears on the blog. I think that's all we can do at this point. You just can't assume that because a couple of guys told you there won't be a warranty, the blog is automatically wrong. Just wait for more info. Good luck.

Hahaha, I knew I wasn't the only one who thought this. :D
I have an ongoing issue with my laptop in my sig and I am sure I have gotten that more than once. I also think that when you get online support, the manager they arrange a call-back with is actually the person you were just chatting online with. ;)

I can pretty much guarantee that extended warranty information hasn't come down through the grapevine. I work for OfficeMax and on more than one occasion customers come in and request special sale items and whatnot that are valid, yet no one in the store was aware of, INCLUDING managers.

Keep in mind, this one year warranty 'rumor' may actually be a test from Dell to gauge reaction..much like politicians do releasing info that they can claim was pure speculation..they want to see whether there is outrage and demand for a better solution, or if the masses just roll over and accept it with little more than a shrug of the shoulders. I say keep pushing for a fair resolution, keep their feet to the fire!

I just don't think Dell will push out any thing else besides extended warranty even if their feet ARE on fire. In order for Dell to offer anything miraculous, the other OEMs has to do it as well. (after all Dell is not going to incur the extra labor and expense for no reason) So far, non of the other OEMs has offered any other concrete support for the defective chips other than extended warranty. So, take what you get, it is better than nothing at all.

So if thats the case we should not be saying we would be fine with a 1 year, becuase what happens after 1 year and 2 days and your laptop dies, that person would be the first to moan.

    WE WANT MORE !!!!
