Before I go meet the person, what should I do before I buy it?

    See if it turns on?

    What else?

    Also is this worth $500?

It has a core duo processor (2.0 ghz)
    2gb of ram
    x1400 video card
    and 120gb 5400rpm hard drive

But I heard this pc is a bit slower than my pc...

    My current pc is..

    amd athlon xp 2500+
    1gb ram
    9800 pro
    120gb 7200 rpm hd

The only games I play on my pc is World of warcraft and day of defeat source...so im not sure..

    Please post your opinions/suggestions!

    thank you!

    :)

    edit: I meant e1705 >_<

you should see if it turns on, reboot about 5x

check the system to make sure that you are getting the 2gb of ram, the x1400 gpu, the correct processor, the correct harddrive.

check for dead pixels, make sure you can live with it

    check the battery life

check the amount of light leakage.

check for all the CDs, drivers, windows xp mce, etc..

lol, i changed your title to reflect the change. I wonder why it is so low.

Check all of the hardware/physical stuff. Make sure the display isn't damage. Also, on the bottom of the laptop, check to make sure that all of the stickers are there. You should see a white sticker near the battery/subwoofer. It should have a service tag and express tag number on it. This will verfiy that it is a real system.

Boot into XP and check out the system information (start menu-->programs-->accessories-->system tools-->system information). Verify that everything there matches the ad.

Thats a crazy low price. Might be (probably is) stolen. You could write down the service tag/etc. and call Dell and check.

Sounds stolen to me. Get the service tag before hand and call Dell.

its been said a milion times by a million people...there are two universal laws in life...no matter where you go or what you do:

    1. if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is
