well got off with a sales person on the dell website (chat) and after finding out that you can not purchase graphics cards from them on their own, is this true?

if it is then i am going to look else where for my laptop, and would be very disappointed as i really wanted to buy the m1730 going to have to look at the NP9262, but UK prices are so high.

Laptop GPUs are VERY rarely upgradable and even then choices are very limited. Unless Dell offers a 9800 for the M1730, you will not find one that works in this laptop.

Always consider laptop GPU as not ungradable

The good thing about the M1730, is almost all components ARE upgradeable.

Dell will not sell the GPU's alone just yet. You'll need to wait for the upgrade program, inwhich Dell will ge allowing users to purchase a kit, which includes the 8800mGTX graphics card. Its rumoured this upgrade program will begin towards the end of this month.

so is it worth taking the risk and getting the m1730 with dual 8700's and then to try and upgrade say in 6 - 12 months?

if i buy from ebay will i be exempt from the program to upgrade the graphics?

any idea on what the prices will be?
