Not in Canada. But I see SSD in Canada. Not sure if that was always there? Anyways my LG screen is pretty enough for me. Maybe if I decide to buy a 2nd I'll go LED.

    LED is still LCD.

its a brighter / less power hungry backlight for the LCD monitor.

LED screens are definitely thinner and will make your system slightly lighter. They are brighter and use less power, but it will be interesting to see if this is very noticible when using the M1530. Would love to see some real world tests comparing systems with the LED vs the LCD.

    Thanks

32 bit Vista can only allocate 3.5 gigs anyways, so yes.. it should be fine downgrading to 3 gigs.

I'm in for a loaded beast after a couple of months going back and forth on this computer. The LED finally pushed me over the breaking point(along with the price I got). Pleeeassssssssssseeeeeeeeee let the screen be the nuts!

I don't think the backlight has anything to do with the grain.

I'll probably get it when my warranty runs out (next February), since I don't like the fact that there's light leakage on the top right of my display, but I don't think I can convince Dell to replace it with an LED for me.

Unless, of course, replacing the monitor isn't against the warranty...?

Uhh...what are you talking about? The graininess is caused by the panel, not by the backlight.

Anyway, I'm glad the LED back-lit screens are finally starting to come. So far the options are still very limiting tho, only available on WXGA+...I prefer high resolution screens, so personally I would not buy any resolution smaller than WSXGA+. Hopefully by the time I buy, there'll be an LED back-lit WUXGA!! ....yes......very good....

I actually noticed that LED backlit screens had more uniformly distributed light. ( Not with the M1530 though , just generally speaking )
I'm really waiting forward to a LED vs CCFL review there! :D

Is LED backlighting worth the money right now? with the 150$ upgrade?

btw, are 1400x900 with led backlight still gonna come with an LG screen?

I don't think anyone would know the answer to that question until people start buying the LED screens. IMO $150 is a bit steep but it should become lower in the future when more people start buying LED screens.

Can't wait to read another review on the m1530 with LED backlighting.

Exactly 1 day after the United States... The LED option is available on the M1530 as of this morning and cost $200 over the basic screen.

To all who ordered an LED scren, post pictures after you get them!! Not just the casing but also of the screen itself! :D.

Anyhoo...I guess the price of the LEDs in Canada is the same as the states. But we're almost always losing in terms of prices because we never get those nice deals.. :( If anyone knows a good way to get a dell cheap, pm me, or even better POST IT!.

To those who ordered the LED, I got this description for mine:

15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ TrueLife LED LCD with Camera for XPS M1530
15.4 inch Black Wide Screen WX+ LED TrueLife LCD with 2.0 MP Camera for XPS M1530

Question: Any ideas why it's listed twice? And what does 'Black Wide Screen' mean?

oh damn its more expensive...good thing canada has 2 options for your 1400x900 :) ...if its not a huge difference i would just go for normal wxga+
