I had been looking for a new laptop and wanted something in the T7100 range with a decent video card (maybe 128 dedicated card). But, I decided to browse the outlet looking for something pre-configured and found what I think is a great deal on a Vostro 1500 with:
Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
1390 Wireless Card
15.4 WXGA Notebook Screen Display with TrueLife <-- Doesn't suffer from grainyness that WXGA+ does?
Integrated 2.0 Mega Pixel Web Camera
512 MB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz (1 DIMM)
160 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
6 Cell Primary Battery
8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Vos 1500 STD: 1Yr Ltd Warranty and Mail-In Service
Order Subtotal: $809.00
I figure even with buying more ram from newegg (would have anyways, saves money) this was a lot cheaper than I could get for something with even lower specs. I was just wondering, what should I expect from a scratch and dent product, like, to what degree are these products scratched and dented. I really don't care about cosmetic flaws, it could look like someone took sand paper to the back of it and that would be no big loss to me, but now I'm starting to worry about what kind of denting there may be, or if any damage may be in or around the keyboard/screen. Does anyone have experience with scratch and dent outlet products? Could you help settle my fears?
Also, can I upgrade or purchase extra coverage for my Dell laptop at a later date? The more I think about it, the more I want to get a 3 year protection plan at some point. Could I just buy that a month or two from now?

the dell outlet is a draw of luck... i heard some people get perfectly fine laptops without any damage that were supposedly "Scratched and dented". On the other hand i never heard of anyone recieving a terribly damanged laptop from the outlet. I guess that only means good things right ?
I think you got a great deal and should stop worrying. There is no way to know until you get it.
Think I got a good deal (Scratch and Dent)
