I hardly think that would fit nor work in a 15” chassis; mainly due to heat problems. However owners of 1720s and M1730s will be able to upgrade once DELL release their own version of 8800M GTX.

I hope it'll go in the M1710... that's supposed to be a 70w VGA slot no?

Hopefully I'll be able to put 2 of these in my 1730, wonder how much dell will charge us for an upgrade to them though :(

Wow, so the chances of this fitting in my Vostro 1500 are slim? I really wanted to upgrade the 8600M GT. Any other Ideas to have a better VCard in the Vostro?

Maybe peeling the Vostro sticker off and placing it on your next laptop, but you may have to DL new bios though. ;)

Well, this is the new laptop lol, only had it for about 5 weeks. I Sold my desktop to get a laptop, but still wanna play games. It plays the games I play currently great, I just have a bad feeling for when the next Counter Strike comes out.

    This kinda sucks.

My notebook (M1730) is not going to be ready until the 28th of November. So it seems that by the time i get my "state-of-the-art" high-end gaming laptop from DELL, they might already have 8800's on the M1730.....

    Can i cry now? :p

Thats why you call them and ask for compensation for your delay. You paid top dollar for what was new, not for what is now not so new.

In a twist of fate it seems that the M1730's have ceased to be delayed, myself (as well as quite a few others in here from the UK) have started getting "shipping" messages. Mine arrives on the 31st of October.

Normally id be extatic... but this 8800 business kinda puts a dampner on things :) especially with it "so close". XD
