I just registered because I wanted to get some input, but I've been reading the site for a little while.

Ok so here's the deal. I've been wanting (and needing) to get a new notebook and I think I'm about ready to do that. I have a desktop for any gaming that I might want to do, which really is very very little. So, I'm looking at the Dell Latitude D505 w/ the discounts they have going on right now. I like the idea of the expandability of it compared to the lower end Inspirons. The config I'm looking at is the PM w/ 15" screen, 256MB Ram (I will upgrade this myself later), 30GB, CDRW/DVD combo for less than $1200. My current notebook is a Thinkpad I bought a few years ago, only a 550 Celeron.

Here's a question... the D-port has DVI output - so if I got one and hook this up to my LCD it'll actually be a digital connection? I don't need this to be a desktop replacement, but if I do want to hook it up I don't want to give up the digital quality of the LCD.

Also read that if you get the 14.1" screen it's still in the same chassis as the 15" so I guess you just have a huge border around the screen then?
