It's usually cheaper to buy the memory separate from the notebook.

There are two 1420s in my house, one is configured almost identical to your specs. My daughter uses it for some gaming, e-mail, and music. We`ve had them since last November and have had no problems so far. I think their a little heavy for a 14 inch laptop, but not really a deal breaker. I think you wont be disappointed.

    Wow my 100th post!! :) :) :) :spinny:

The 1420 is a great deal for the price. This is the first Dell laptop I have owned and am very pleased with my purchase. With what is in my sig below I paid $774. This was a very reasonably priced laptop considering what I was looking for, something smaller than 15in and something without integrated graphics so I could play a game occasionally on it and under $1000. It came packaged securly and unscathed (I had my wife ship the package to me over here in the Middle East as I am on a Naval ship and deployed) and was amazed just at that. No problems so far. Wish I had atleast upgraded the processor to the C2D, but that is a just a personal thing, the T2370 is running great with no problems at all. I have played Call of Duty 4 and Resident Evil 4 on it, running COD4 with about medium video settings and it plays fine. Anyways, good option for the price and the small package. Only thing I was upset about was it took Dell one extra week than they had stated to receive my laptop. I am so pleased with this laptop that I have ordered a 1525 for my wife already and am awaiting it to be built as I type this. Take advantage of the coupon offers and special deals Dell has going on all the time, can save you a few hundred bucks. Memory is cheaper to buy and install yourself. Head over to newegg.com and purchase your memory there. I paid $78 for 4GB and took the 5 minutes to install it myself (your Dell book that came with your laptop has a picture guide for doing this). Not worth the $150 to upgrade it on Dell's site unless you have money to just throw away (plus it probably isn't a good name brand memory anyways). If you have questions or anything feel free to ask, I will try to answer it the best I can, I have been an IT for the Navy for 4 years now, am A+ certified and computers are my thing.
