Im a gamer, first of all. I currently have Vista 32bit, and it seems like its okay. Im not sure how much XP is compared to Vista in the gaming category on the Vostros, so I wanna see what you guys think. I dont really do anything that I need vista for, Since I have vista basic theres really nothing special about it. If I can get more FPS in XP, and better stability then Ill to XP. And also, is it hard to install XP, cause I know alot of people have been having problems due to MediaDirect. And is there any way to use my current key for XP, or am I just going to have to use my corperate version? Thanks alot guys.

1.) I have licenses to both, and I run XP. I used Vista for a while, and while it's alright, I'd rather have a bit more speed. To each his own, however.
2.) It's not hard to install XP, not sure about the MediaDirect issue. When I had my e1505 (ages ago) it was not difficult. I'm sure there are guides; search.
3.) No, you'll have to have a different key; Vista will not allow you to install XP.

MediaDirect is particularly picky on partitions. If you want to keep MediaDirect, just leave the partitions alone set by the factory.
If you want to wipe out the entire disc, start with installing MD first then install XP.

Wow, that's really sad on Vista. Do any of you think Vista performance will be improved with SP1, or possibly SP2 if there is one?

No, I think SP1 will cripple Vista, and SP2 will render it completely functionless, except as a DOS emulator.

Edit: Sorry I forgot, even the most obvious attempts can't be conveyed in writing. Thus: /sarcasm.

I don't know if that was serious or sarcastic, but that comment made my day.

I think SP1 will make Vista a lot better, personally.

Couldn't you just play a game in XP SP2 compatibility mode on Vista? I use that to play Oblivion, and it works nice.

I don't think SP1 will make any difference. I certainly won't buy it. Not until Microsoft fundamentally changes the way it does business with the home user, and I seriously doubt that will happen.

Vista is a bloatware OS full of DRM, TPM, and other copyright protections galore in ways XP never was.

Besides, with rumors of them going to a subscription service in the future, I can pretty much rule out any future Microsoft products in my house.

XP > Vista. I have both Vista Ultimate, and XP MCE, and I prefer MCE so much more. Vista screws eerything =/
