I am looking at buying a new laptop to replace my old one (Alienware Area-51 m9750) and am leaning towards the Dell Inspiron 17RSE. I primarily use the laptop for gaming: WoW, Diablo 3, and MWO are the main games I play. I was looking at either the ASUS G75 or the G46 but after finding the 17RSE and it's much lower price I am tempted, especially since I have $800 on hand to spend so getting the Dell makes the difference between getting a new laptop now vs. later. My only hesitation is Dell's reputation. I have never owned a Dell (though granted Alienware is owned by Dell it's kind of a different beast). So what do you guys think? Go for it? Run as far away as I possibly can?

good....................awesome GPU & CPU.......also you have the Intel Rapid function (which is very very good)

PS......choose the True life screen (its better and sure it cost a bit more.......but your gaming & Video experience will be super great)

    :p ;) :D  :):hi2:

edit.............one last thing......you will never find a better support then DELL.......ive tried all big PC brands out there and non of them beats DELL technical support.

you find laptops with super great build quality and finish....... pay £2500 and you get a brand new Macbook Pro with the Retina screen and the UniBody Aluminium casing :) (7720 costs under £1000....thats my point)

Thanks for the response. Do you know how wide spread the problem is with the 17RSE "losing" the NVIDIA 650m? I have read quite a bit about this problem and this is the biggest fear I have about buying this laptop is the 650m disappearing and not being useable.

its such a over rated "discussion".............i play games every single night, and the computer runs awesome....high, stable FPS, very very good temps on the GPU....and so on..... (i have the 3D chip/GT 650M)

second....you have 2 weeks "send back" warranty if you buy a new DELL machine.....if you not happy...just send it back :)

Can't wait to get mine. It's shipped already, should be quite an improvement over the current beast. :)

I might swap to this too from the 17R.
I will test it for a few days and return if I feel it lags. i5 3317U CPU benchmarks are disappointing and while I dont play games or do video editing etc I still want it to last me 3 years.

I took the plunge and bought one. I should have it by the end of the week hopefully.
