I'm thinking of ordering a Dell Inspiron 6400 because of its affordable price but there is a problem: delivery time. Since I'd be heading to my vacation July 7, I really don't have that much time to wait. Is there a way I can make Dell deliver it in less than a week? I'm in Canada right now.
Thanks!![]()

I don't think so. If you customize a laptop from dell, it would take a little over a week (especially now with the sales, dell might have a lot of orders). I remember last year when my bro ordered one during a sales week and it took dell over a 3 weeks to get it delivered. I don't blame them due to the number of orders but that's something to think about. And then you also have to count in the shipping (unless you pay for rush delivery which won't do any good if it takes more than a week to build it). IF you don't need to customize it, maybe you can pick up a dell at a electronics store like costco or Fry's (not sure if they have in Canada though). Well best of luck to you and have fun on your vacation.

buy from the dell outlet and get overnight shipping

I agree with comp, if you buy it from the outlet the the machine will be cheaper and can be shipped overnight. Otherwrise it will take to long and your laptop won't make it intime for the trip.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but where is the outlet you mention? Anyway, anyone who's interested in getting an I6400 should buy now. The thing's durt cheap. T2400 CPU, 1GB RAM, DVD-burner, and X1400 graphics for $1069 CAD? That's just crazy. Oh well, too bad for me I think. If the outlet thing doesn't work out, think I'd just buy an Acer 5672. Build quality differences between the two anyone?

I got mine in exactly 7 days, including weekend, via Ground Shipping. I've heard you can call in and tell Dell that you need it before the 7th of July because you're going out of town they MIGHT give you free next day shipping.

I ordered mine over the phone on a Friday in May and it was at my door the following Wednesday regular ups shipping. Ordering over the phone you still provide any and all coupon codes...gets the mfr process started immediately (or so the sales rep told me)...it was in boxing in under 48 hours...YMMV if you order/want some component not in stock immediately, but the sales rep can tell you if that's the case.
I recommend you go for it. -
the problem isn't shipping. you can always overnight it. the problem is the build time (the physical build, the trip from malaysia to usa, processing at dell, then shipped out to you which is when you're method of shipping kicks in).

I just got my 640m, and I'm in Canada, and it was built to order. Ordered it on a Thursday. Got it on Wednesday. 6 days. So yes, it's possible!
Thinking of ordering a Dell. Less than a week delivery possible?
