Kind of like an office with some Dell laptops actually displayed, with a few boxes ready to go to serve the business community mostly. Any one done anything similar?

Seems like I could leverage the power of the Dell name and have a niche that no one here is filling. There is not a Dell kiosk within 85 miles of here. And certainly not one where you could actually BUY a machine on the spot.

Yes, inventory could get expensive, but I think if I started small and built up whatever on stock supply I needed, I might be able to do it. And the space would not need to be formal retail, more like a nice consulting office with some quality Dell machines for the people to play with.

Seems it would eliminate the ONE reason why people do not get a Dell for those that just have to see and feel the darn thing before they buy, or better yet have a business emergency where they need 5 on the SPOT! Thanks, Dave Oh yeah, my name is quite similar to Dell's. Bell. So, I could call it Bell's Dells!!!!!!

Erm, I don't think Dell would be too happy with that. I don't think they'd just let you resell laptops from their website; otherwise, you'd think big box retailers like BB and Circuit City would be doing it. Of course, you could just keep it on the down low...

Yes, I would want to keep advertising expenses down low :) But if I am adding Value Added Service such as setup on their business network, transfer of old data, data recovery from old/bad drive, etc, then wouldn't that be ok? Sorry about misspelling in title. OS should be OF, of course :)

Ummmmm yeah, you can't actually DO that. You will be closed down and slapped with a lawsuit in no time flat.

    Back to the drawing board.

So how would I find out about setting up a formal Dell Kiosk but not in a mall?

I think there is one option of becoming a Dell Resller Agent (I may be wrong). Or you could always buy the laptops and then resell them transferring the warranty. Most ebay wholesellers do that.

Those Kiosks are definitely NOT franchised, they're corporate run. how about opening up an ebay store instead and selling dell items through that?

While you can not call yourself a Dell Kiosk, I don't see why you couldn't open shop under a different name. Call your store "Notebooks Galore" and just join the Dell VAR (Value-Added-Reseller) program.

It is possible. You could always put a giant Dell Logo sticker on your window.

Yes, I had thought of an eBay store, and was certainly planning on transferring any warranty's, for sure. I will look into their VAR program and see what I can learn. I guess I just need to be able to get the right laptops at the right price. I have always wondered how they sold them on Ebay brand new in the box. I spoke to a guy who does that today and he said he knew a rep, and each month they sold him some to meet a quota of some sort. So he had many of the same configured machine. Very interesting.

Thanks for all the valuable input folks, I really appreciate it. Dell laptops are so fun I figured why not make a business out of it :) Dave
