My friend has an old Inspiron 4000 that he wants to buy a battery for. Are there any reputable third party battery vendors that sell batteries for Dell laptops for less than the genuine Dell batteries? From what I've read it could be problematic when purchasing third party batteries but since there are so many Dell laptops out there I figured there must be some decent companies that sell batteries for Dell laptops.

I guess all the 3rd batteries are almost the same in terms of quality. What I can tell you is that I bought one from eBay for my previous Dell Inspiron 1300 and it still works great, almost 3 hours of internet surfing.

I am planning on getting one for my Lenovo soon.

If the battery is too much, you can try to rebuild it.

Why buy a third party battery when you can get a genuine Dell battery for almost half price on eBay?

Always buy genuine battery for your notebook from your notebook manufacturer. Many recalled batteries (with serial numbers altered) are circulating on eBay, Craigslist and other sites as brand new for an unbelievable price. Remember, batteries can cause fire or explode causing damage not only to your notebook but also to your furniture at your place, injure pets or family members and can even result in death in some cases.

Little dramatic I would say ^^^^ lol

I'm sure 3rd party vendors aren't reselling defective dell batteries.

By that same logic nobody should ever buy a used car since one of the tires could fly off at any given moment while driving on the highway.
