Okay 100% + positive review for the Vostro 1400 with the GMAX3100 graphics... it DOESNT DIE. Ive left it on playing music, downloading stuff off bit-torrent and well 4 hours later I still have over an hour and 15 min left of battery life (23%)

Sickness when my old Core Duo Toshiba would only get 3 hours

Sucks when you are trying to a battery rundown though haha

Small problem I noticed. When I close the lid of the laptop, then reopen it, the brightness went back down (when on battery). Any way to prevent this?

Set the default brightness level, on battery, to whatever you are comfortable with. Either in the BIOS, or in the Windows power management utility(or whichever program you are using). By default , windows sets it at lowest.

Nice pics. Maybe vista basic is easier on the battery life. Do you have a 6 cell or 9 cell?

I would like to go with the 9-cell, but I'm probably getting the inspiron 1520 and just don't want that thing sticking out the back.
