    When I get on the dell website, it says the 1720 can get up to the 8600 GT card, but when I get to that option, it only goes up to the 8400 GS. Does anyone know what is up with this?

    Dell forgot to update that. Dell used to offer the 8600gt on the 1720, but only offer 8400.

    so whoever ordered a month ago got lucky with the 8600 before it got discontinued on the 1720... why would they do that??

    are they going to introduce the 8800?

    wow... seems as if I got it shortly before they discontinued it. I also found out that the 1520 used to have an 8600 GT option, but that was discontinued a long time before the 1720. I suspect this has something to do with the studio line coming in. Maybe the Inspirons with 8600s overlapped too much with the Studios with 3650s, so Dell nipped the 8600 to make its options less convoluted?

    yea, its like saying you want 256mb card you go with studio.
