Long time lurker, recent poster.
I have seen what I consider quite a few postings and comments about shipping woes and when people are going to get their new Dells.
I dont think anyone can top my experience with regards to build, ship and receive times.
I ordered my Dell E1505 on 25 June (thru aafes.com) at about 2330 local or about 1630 EST. My order was processed and I was able to track the progress of my new laptop. My laptop actually was finished and shipped before the estimated ship date. On 1 July got the email that my laptop had shipped and that I could expect a tracking number within 48-72 hours. Well that was 1 July when that could be found on the Dell Website, and today it still says the same thing. Thankfully my new laptop showed up on Monday of this week.....FINALLY!!!!!! Just short of 30 days after I ordered it. I only noticed sometime last week that because I ordered it thru AAFES that my new computer can take between 30 to 45 days to be delivered because I am at an APO address. Funny thing is that even though I have my new laptop in hand, Dells tracking website still shows that I can expect a tracking number in 48 to 72 hours and that its on its way to a local carrier right now.
After having my new laptop less than 24 hours I used Southern Girls walkthrough to reformat my hard drive and do a clean install of windows. I only have a couple more drivers to reinstall and to fix media direct and I will be totally up and running.
I wanted to thank the moderators on this board because I dont think Ive ever run across a much better board in all my time on the net and to also thank Southern Girl for her very very informative walk thru. The only thing about it is that you have to read it first. If you read it all the way thru and read everything .you should not have a single problem.

I had to give her a name. "Everywhere Girl" because shes already been everywhere and I do alot of traveling and shes going to be going everywhere with me. She was assembled in Ireland I do belive and then shipped to Tennessee and then shipped to the middle of nowhere Turkey to me.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
that is good to know. I too have the E1505 and love it!!!! It is the best notebook for your money. PC World rated it the best and now I see why.
Thoughts on shipping woes and other things.
