Dell Inspiron 6000. Upgraded memory from 512MB to 2GB Ram. Is there any point of me saving these sticks or should i just throw them away?

I could never bring myself to throw it away. But I'm a pack rat. When you ditch the I6000 you could put the original 512 in it and resell it? Then you'd have your 2GB for the new rig.
-
How much can i sell it for about? I have 2 sticks each 256MB from my laptop inspiron 6000. I also have 1 stick 512MB from my dell dimension e310.

You won't get much out of a 256 or a 512 stick. What I meant was you could pop the 512 back into the computer, then sell the computer when you upgrade the whole rig. That way you have the 2GB still to use in whatever you want.
-
Exactly, make no sense to sell 256 or 512 ram, nobody would want them, people is looking for 1GB or more always. Terbo is right, save them and then when you get a new computer you can put that memory back and sell your old laptop, donate it or whatever and you keep the 2GB sticks and that is better

What a coincidence - I just upgraded my daughter's old Inspiron 6000 to 2-Gb and was wondering the same thing about the two 256-Mb sticks. Dynamic - are you running XP or Vista? I set my 6000 up as a dual-booter, XP and Vista HP, and I can't find Dell Quickset for Vista for it. Not a big deal - but I do like the Quickset LCD brightness meter.

Of course you gotta throw them away. If not they'll stay in a drawer for some years until you realize how stupid it was to think you'd ever sell such an old thing. My experience.
Anyway you wouldn't get much for them... maybe not enough for a diet coke... -

Throw away or put them in the PiFT:

You are supposed to recycle old ram, not throw it away.
-
Yup, put it on the PiFT or on eBay on a free listings day but with only postage costs being covered. Somebody out there will make use of it. No point saving it, it is likely that when you upgrade to a new machine that DDR3 will be the common notebook memory; it's appearing more and more often now.
-
How can you just "throw" it away. Sell it off eBay (don't expect much), you'll get buyers for sure.
-
I retract my earlier comment about keeping it to sell. My new idea is...Turn it into a KeyChain!!! You'll be the hit of the office.
