I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue.....i have had my i9300 for just about a week now - and i have to say first of all i love this PC - especially the screen [ :)] - but now i suddenly hear this ticking sound from the HDD about every 30secs??? can anyone tell what it is and if I should be worried?

Also - can someone tell me what configs they run DOOM3 on?

    Thanks

I think my minds bloody brilliant - Unfortunately it doesn't agree with me

This is sort of a feature of the Hitachi 7K60. You sort of have to live with it! There is nothing wrong with your drive, it's just that way.

    http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm

At the bottom of this page is a Feature Tool V1.96; download the CD version. Use the Acoustical Management Tool. You might also download the Drive Fitness test and check the drive; it is possible you got a lemon.
Probably only, like said before, the acoustic management is turned off.

The tool helped little to none in reducing the noise out of my drive. So I just opted to keep it at the fastest setting since it is gonna tick anyway and forget about it. It's not that bothersome after a while!
