Ok, I've been lurking and reading all the shipping threads and LCD vs LED comparisons, so wanted to give you all an update on my side..
I called the 1-800-433-9014 number, got my status and decided to go further...
Got a CSR on the line, and was polite as can be "hi, how is your day going, super"..
that sorta crap...
Got her in a good mood, and asked her nicely to check the status on my system.
The phone status said "testing"..
I asked her what that meant, and still remained sweet.
She said, "given by the fact it has a Service Tag, it should be shipped tomorrow.
"Super!!" I say...![]()
I ask if there was anyway I could be upgraded to Next Day Air, she said "sure"...
No extra charge..
I then tell her, "boy I wish I ordered a little later, seems you are giving all M1330 buyers a cool free bag"..
I tell her it's on the website now, she finds it on there..
She asks for the Dell Item number, I give it to her...(A1201948) -Laptop Messenger Bag Timbuk (retail $149.99)
She agrees to add it to my order, since it wasn't there before, and I hadn't recieved my item.
Next Day as well..

So, the moral here, it to be super nice, calm, ask how their day is going, and maybe you can get more info and a cool bag as well..
It all really depends on who you call though..
Once I see a Tracking Number, I'll be a ton more happy..
Something tells me Dell know they screwed up this launch BIG TIME..
And this is a way to make ammends..
It looks like the promo is on all divisions of Dell..

Muzig, I agree with you 100%. I always try to be as nice as possible when I'm chatting online or talking on the phone with the Dell reps. If you go in there talking with a bad attitude, they're not going to give you anything!

to get it added to an existing order, the csr who placed your order has to do it..or her supervisor! -
I would not have asked for it. But I was willing to pay for one before they gave me a sept ESD on it. Now I cancel because of the esd and they offer the same thing for free, with shipping next week. Pisses me off

I just called and asked if there was any way to apply this deal to my current order and they told me that I could only do that if I canceled and re-ordered because of deals having different SKU's or something.
But they were very polite about it and offered to upgrade my shipping to NBD for free, which was really cool.
I may have to try this again tomorrow or later tonight and see if I can get a different rep who might be more like muziq's. -
Why is being upgrade to next day shipping cool ?
It will not get you your laptop any faster and chances are it will still be shipped ground -
I just mean it was nice for her to offer me something without me even asking.
And since when is shipping NBD automatically ground, especially from TN to MN? I get the Malaysia to US part being a constant, but the domestic shipping is a variable of up to 5 days depending on where it is going after it lands in the US. -
I asked the rep who submitted my order. No luck, he would not add it without canceling the existing order. Why is Dell so inconsistent? Would forwarding the request to the supervisor work?

Just sent an email to dell customer service, said as of today I've been waiting for my laptop for a month, now I see your giving away a free bag and as a gesture of good will I'd like one.

Really... It's retail (if i went to a store and said I'm within 30days give me x promotion they'd fulfill it right on the spot). How hard can it be to change something. Especially if it has nothing absolutley to do with the original order (as in proc/hdd/memory changes) and ships on a separate order altogether. I soent 30minutes quarreling and decided to just give up and try again in 9months when everything is all sorted out...
Dell needs to learn one thing through all of this. Be consistent in delivery of customer service. Customers don't like being treated differently. -
I was able to get the bag yesterday around 4pm. I first went through the checking of the notebook status and talked to a person. They transfered me over to order modification and then they guy said in order to get the bag i would have to cancel and reorder. I told him i really dont want to do that and a friend of mine was able to do it with a new order. The guy there was honest and said he cant do it but that customer service should be able to. He transfered me over to customer service and a guy I got ahold of named Mark answered. I told him the situation how I was transfered from order modification site and all. Then he goes and says that I'll take your credit card number to order the bag. i then showed him how it was free on the web site then he was going to transfer me to order modification. I very politely said that I've already been transfered to there and they said that CSR needed to do this to create a new order. He proceded to do something and hung up on me. I was ticked. I called back and got a lady. I wish i got her extension after talking to HCW. Sorry guys. But she was saying i need th ecred card too. I told her of the deal and she was very nice about it and said then let your order ship she'll create a case log that will order the bag after my order has been shipped and get the bag for free. I'm doing this with a new battery and now with the bag. Sweet!

Please be informed that the order is still in production and the estimate ship date is on August 30, 2007 and the estimated delivery date is on August 31, 2007. As the shipping method has been changed from ground to the next day. Once the order has completed the production stage, the order would be shipped at the earliest.
Regarding the offer that was not offered on the order, would be processed once the order has been invoiced. I would follow up and update the information to you.

Ok, I just tried firing an email off to customer service about this. I'll cross my fingers and see how it goes.
