Does anyone have any tips on how to reach a technical support specialist who is not in India?

Frankly, most of the time they don't seem to understand what I'm saying, and then I have a hard time understanding what they're saying - especially if they're trying hard to sound American, then they just end up sounding like they're doing a cover of the Prisencolinensinainciusol video. It's funny until it's so frustrating that I feel like I'm just going to have a total breakdown.

Dell has been trying to reach me from the Austin depot (I presume) this morning but I didn't make it to the phone on time. When I tried to call back I spent two hours being bounced around on the phone by people in India who kept insisting that there are NO technical support phones in the United States, that I cannot be escalated to an on-shore agent, and that India is my only option. They kept telling me that the call had no purpose, which I find difficult to believe. I've been bounced from department to department in what seems like a pretty random way.

I'm thinking that there must be another way to get Dell support - Skyping in from another country, maybe I could reach an agent in the Philippines or somewhere that isn't India? I also speak French, what if I tried to call Dell customer service in Quebec or a French number?

Ideally I'd like to reach someone in Texas who actually knows what's going on, but that's probably an unattainable pipe dream. I would settle for a rational conversation with someone who seems well-informed instead of someone who is just trying thirty ways to blow me off.

I hate Apple computers with an unholy passion but I might have to get over that if it's the only way to get warranties and technical support provided by North American call centers.

Are there any PC companies that make good laptops that offer NA (or Filipino) technical support? I would sell my Dell in a heartbeat and buy a laptop from a company that would never require me to deal with Indian call centers.

    Hi there,

I work at Dell headquarters. I'm sorry to hear that you were not able to reach the support group you wanted. If you let me know in detail the problem you are having with your machine as well as your contact info and service tag (in a PM) I'll be happy to have someone contact you and help you.

    Thanks,
    Mourin
