Tired of E1705 Beeping

Something's not right. None of the fixes herein work. For a grand, the computer should work right.

Does anyone here have an E1705 that does NOT beep randomly?

If so, what is your configuration? Please tell as maybe we can narrow the problem to a specific piece of hardware.

This E1705 is going back within a week if I cannot determine the problem. If Dell is not responsive, my credit card company is going to set them straight. I had a great Inspiron 1100 that I gave away upon getting this machine (which is great--save for this beeping problem).

Dell:

I know there's no such thing as a free lunch. But when you sell a defective product; it would be nice to speak to an american (no offense to your Indian employees. They have been polite, friendly and helpful as they can be--given your scripting). Still, it doesn't solve the problem (and, I am not the only one).

What beeping problem do you have? In my experience, this beeping is related to the wireless card settings. You can turn off the audible alert when a network is detected.

 

Yes, I know, Kegobeer. I have been to the posts wherein you have responded. I have applied the fixes herein stated--all of them--and none have worked. I have been to several sites and applied their fixes and none have worked--still beeping on my machine. I am at my wits' end and my consumer's patience end. I want a machine that works like my old Inspiron 1100.

If other E1705/9400'ers are having no beeping issues, then there is a problem with my setup (read, Dell's config). I want that fixed. No big whoop. I just want what I paid for: a correctly functioning machine.

My brother suggested pulling the battery. But that would leave me one rubber foot shy of a level surface (another Dell issue I am dealing with). And, Dell had me pull the ram in hopes that was the cause of the beeping--NOT.

So, here I am. About to "chat" with Dell again; then let my card company resolve (trust me, they will fix customer satisfaction issues). I just wanted Dell to step up and say, "Hey, we're gonna make it right--right now!"
