    It makes no sense to wait 3+ weeks for a laptop... What else is there that has Santa Rosa and an 8600GT that I can buy now? Thanks!

    Yeah you should get a Macbook Pro. I must say though, I saw one with the LED, and the viewing angles were not so hot.

    Edit: to answer OP...Asus G1S (8600GT), MBP (8600GT), Sony Vaio FZ (8400GT), or new Lenovo T61P (FX 570M which is 8600GT)

    Is there a longer wait for the 1420 then the 1520? Ordered mine on 7-10 and they tell me a ship date of 8-14. Thats over a month. I am thinking of getting something else too. The high res display must be really back ordered.

    Well online status tells me in build stage.. but CSR tells me it is still in production.. They offered overnight shipping which I did not ask for.. That was nice. The CSR also told me they had some bulk orders which implies that larger customers may be getting in front of the production que. This was after she had me go on hold and she was looking into it. So I am thinking that indeed there may be some larger customers cutting in front of the line. :( Maybe this is why they are offering free overnight shipping. Maybe they feel a bit guilty? Think of this, if somebody who is ordering a hundred laptops threatens to cancel order unless they get a better ship date.. dell will probably expedite them more then they would a home user.

    Mine has been in the build stage since 7/16 and it's still there today. I've been occupying my wait time by purchasing accessories for when my lappy arrives. I already have a Targus backpack, Targus Chill Mat, Logitech headset w/ mic and Logitech wireless mouse...I'm running out of $$ and running out of accessories to buy.
