To those 1420 Midnight Blue owners waiting...

I ordered on 7/17 and my laptops been in build stage until today. It is now in boxing. Some of you should check out your status on the phone to see if your orders moved up. I had the 1200x800 screen, glossy.

 

I ordered my blue 1520 on 7/11.
Still in build stage...

 

I ordered mine 7/22 and mine is still in build. ^%$&.

 

Did you guyz check with the phone order status.

I ordered my BLUE 1420 on 7/27 and today(8/3) its in Testing.

 

I ordered on 7/19 and it shipped today...

 

I ordered on 7/16 and STILL in build stage

 

My heart just jumped about 100 feet. I am so used to listening to the automated number and hearing "Your order is in production and is currently in the build stage". So I call back about two minutes ago, and I hear "Testing!". It scared the crap out of me. YAY!

 

"Your Order is in Production and is currently in the BOXING Stage" ......... It moved from testing to boxing in one day flat.......

Maan, I guess the production at dell's factory is picking up.... FINALLY!!!!!!

 

Yeah, normally testing does only take a couple of hours! But boxing normally takes 2-3 days (they are shipping it from Malaysia to the US). So, in about 4-5 days, I should be seeing my lappy!

EDIT: I hope it gets sent into boxing by tonight. That way, it can start its trip to the US, because on Sunday's, they don't do anything, right? Or does that not affect the production process?

 

Mine is at the local hub. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow since they don't want to deliver til Tuesday.

 

Shoot, I just hope I get my notebook in time also. I ordered jet black but still to this day it's still in build stage.

Hey just to keep you guys updated, I JUST RECIEVED MY COMPUTER!!! WOO HOO! I have no problems with it period. Everythings perfect! The blue looks awesome also...

Also what coupons did you use? I have the same config plus vista premium and bluetooth and my total after taxes was $920

 

I have Vista Premium too, and I don't believe I used any coupons, actually. Just the $243 (or so) off, and the free RAM and Hard Drive upgrades. Mine came out to $898 before taxes.

EDIT: Now I remember, I got the three-year McAfee subscription for $20.

 

true...yea i used a college discount for $250 and then they also had some 4% discount...and yea the virus scan software i just for 15 month norton...but i just got consumer reports and it shows trend micros pc-cillin as the best security pack...luckily i got pirated versions of every virus scan program alive

 

So, I got some awesome news just now on the status of my order. After all, I am a very curious person and just HAD to ask a CSR about the status.

how come whenever i email dell and ask about order status they NEVER respond? am i emailing the wrong dept. or something? can someone give me the email address they are sending these requests for status of their shipment?

 

I use the Dell Chat. Go to the order status page, and in the upper left corner, next the the Dell logo, you will see a phone number, and then a link for Live Chat. Click that!

that was my convo about 10 min ago..she claims she upgraded me to nxt day shipping...

 

Ah, good ol' Pooja. I think (s)he was the one who upgraded my shipping as well, and it actually does show up as next-day shipping on my order status page.. Some people have reported that they were promised the upgrade but never saw it, so you might want to check on that in the next day or so.

Not that it really matters, anyway. If it's going to take Dell two months to get my laptop to the courier, I don't care about the extra day or two that it MIGHT save me to have the next-day shipping. A lot of people are reporting next-day delivery even with standard shipping.

 

crashcart how long did it take for the order status page to update to next day shipping? mine still says 3-5 day shipping but it has only been 15 minutes.

 

also is this the anti-glare screen (14.1 inch Wide Screen WXGA LCD for Inspiron 1420) ? i was looking at my order and i just want to make sure it is.

 

I couldn't say for sure how long it took since I don't really check the web status very often. I've been calling the order status 800 number and hanging up after I hear that it's still in the build stage. If I had to guess, I'd say it was probably updated within a day, though.

Just checked the dell site...no more delays on Midnight Blue !!!! also red, white and black dont have delays....

hopefully my lappy ships out earlier than the 21st

 

I saw that as well and almost changed my order, but after what I've seen people go thru around here, I'll stick with my blacky! Planning to skinit anyway...

 

I changed my order from black to blue b/c i knew in the long run i would regret not getting what i want on a piece of expensive equipment that will be with me for years...if i were u id change my order to blue and according to ur sig. it would only cost you 3 days.....esd for blue..ordering today is 8/27.

All the while the order status for me was..."Your order has been processed and is currently in Pre-Production"...Today it has changed to..."Your order is now in Build Stage"...Not bad huh?! Some improvement...he he...

 

Finally its with the delivery courier ...Alas I wont be there to get it myself at home. It was 3-5 day shipping. Dell promised to update to Free Next Day Shipping which never happened. But the brightside is...I dont think I wld have got it any earlier given that it was shipped on Friday morning.
