To get a Duo now, or to wait 3 months and get a Merom. I am guessing the Graphics processor will also be updated as well? Just how much more faster/productive is a merom than a Duo? Is it worth the wait? I have 1000 to spend on a E1505, right now that gets me a pretty nice setup after a 35% off coupon.

It looks like you have quite a powerful notebook there - I would wait. You won't see any drastic differences between the Merom (Core 2 Duo) and the Duo.

And it's not like the prices are going to go up either. . . this year in Q3 the notebook prices should start to drop more than usual.

Well if I look at your notebook, you have a great one. You should be ok for a year with this setup. I dont know if you are willing to wait, but I am going to wait until Santa Rose-platform. DX10 support, SATA2, newer graphics card, 64 bit, new wireless lan.

But the Santa Rose-platform is coming Q1 2007, while the Merom is coming Q3 2006. I dont know if you are willing to wait that long. Merom of Q3 will features all these things too, except new wireless lan and SATA2 and newer graphics card.

    Charlie :)

Hitman speaks the truth, I'm also waiting for 1-2Q 07. Socket P and Santa Rosa also = 800Mhz instead of 667Mhz.

If you are always waiting for the next big thing, you will be just always waiting. For the price, the notebooks available now are VERY powerful. New technology equals higher price, so if you have something that fits your budget, I would pull the trigger now, but that's just my opinion. :)

    I agree with Nickster.

If you decide to wait, you'll always be waiting.

And whenever you DO decide to pull the trigger, four months down the road you'll be behind again anyway ...
