I have the 512Mb currently running XP. If I upgrade to 2Gb will this be too much? I heard of problems with the computer going into hibernation with 1.5-2gb of memory in Xp. I use hibernation 95% of the time while running programs on my computer.

There is a Windows hotfix to fix that. Windows can possibly get unhappy going into hibernation with 2GB of RAM, but that's nothing to worry about, especially with the fix there. I've got 2GB in my laptop, and I'd hibernate all the time (it works, I've used it many times) if I didn't want to access the drives under Linux, which requires them to be properly unmounted, ie. Windows needs to shut down.

Do you really need 2 gig? 1 gig will do nicely for most users unless your a very heavy multitasker ,play very demanding games, or do a lot A/V editing. I'm not trying to sway you from getting two gig, just pointing out that you might not really need it at the moment.
