    Hi everyone

I took the plunge on a M1730 last nite (kind of a business write off)

I was holding out because I really wanted the 8800 GTX video cards.

    My system is

    T7700
    2Gig of Ram
    2x200 7200
    Vista Ultimate
NVIDIA SLI Dual GeForce 8700MGT with 512MB GDDR3 Memory
4 year warrenty with accidently coverage

All for a I think a godo price of around 3300 plus tax and free shipping.

My concerns are basically did I get too cheap on the processor? And I figured I probably need to add another 1G of ram to make the system as fast as possible, even tho I know I should have gotten windows XP but there damm configurator is a PITA.

My big concern is if I should have maybe held out for the 8800GTX card they seem blow away SLI 7950GTX which are already faster than 8700 SLI. Does any1 know of a release date of for the dells with the new cards?

Would have a Sagar N9271 ended up being a more powerful system with the Quad Core and a single 8800 GTX?

So wanting to hear some feedback. I guess I still have time to have them upadte my order.

I'd have chosen the sager with the 8800gtx, it probably runs similar to a sli 8700 or even faster maybe... its better than the 7950 sli since 8800gtx supports dx10, and eventually all games will become dx10.

I would cancel and wait. The 1730 will have 8800's, just a matter of when

Any idea on when really is because I am also of the belief that if you are always waiting for the next best thing it would be endless loop. I am thinking if it was maybe 30 days away not a problem.

If it like 2-3 months then it is ok I don't want to wait that long.

If you are looking to drop that kind of cash, Its well worth the wait, trust me. 1 8800GTX Mobile will beat 2 8700GT's in SLI. Also look at it this way, at very least Dell will drop the price quite a bit just before the 8800's launch thus giving you a better price.

I dont htink the 880's will be available for the M1730 for a while yet. It hasnt even been confirmed by Dell, let alone given a release date.

Remember, although more costly, you can always upgrade the graphics card in the laptop later on, which is what I intend to do once the price is at a reasonable stage....

I would recommend the Sager NP9262, put in 2 X 8800M GTX plus u can efficiently use 800MHZ Ram and the M1730 will be crushed

    Are you sure?

Santa Rosa doesn't support 800 MHz RAM. It downclocks it to 667 MHz.
