    I'm 99% that I'm getting the E1705 but am totalloy unsure on what screen I'm going to purchase. I was set on getting the WUXGA but people have turned me off my saying how small the icons and fonts are (and i don't have the greatest of eyesite) However, I love the fact its got the TrueLife screen. I've seen a Toshiba with a glossy screen and it looked awesome. My buddy has a Dell 8600 with a 15.4 WSXGA and a Geforce 5500 at max resolution, and i am not impressed by that screen at all. At max resolution, everything is small and that Toshiba looked way better. Will i want the WUXGA or the WXGA? I wish there could be a way to compare them. Thanks!

    The best thing you can do is go to a computer retail store, find a 17in laptop with glossy. Chances are that if you like that, then you'll like the E1705.

    Also with the truelife, you can change your natural resolution and icon settings/text settings, etc so that it is more comfortable for you.

    Personally, I would go with the truelife. When i ordered the 9300, there was a lot of bad rep about the truelife screen and everything. Now after a year of having the matte screen, I"m about to buy a truelife screen because the matte is that bad.

    I would check out a Dell Kiosk in a mall if there is one near you. In my experience. Its tough to find a high resolution screen in stores like BestBuy and CurcuitCity. The Kiosks are usually the surest bests for a couple of different screens resolutions. =)

    I have the E1705 with 17" WUXGA truelife screen.

    Its very nice and I wear tri-focals. No problem reading at all. "Your Mileage May Vary".

    As SouthernGirl mentioned, you can easily enlarge or even reduce font and icon sizes using "QuickSet" tooltray feature. Or you can just go into Advanced setting in display properties to adjust it. But I prefer the normal default settings.

    The font size is not as tiny as the 15.4 WUXGA with the same resolution. The 17" screen will obviously display larger than a 15.4" WUXGA at the same resolution.

    Niki does have a good point. If you really want to see what it is like try to find a Dell Kiosk near you.

    I just don't think that the matte screen is good for 17in. I have a hard time explaining why, but to me, its just not a good option.

    Even f you're not looking at Dell. Though you are. I'd still say if you want to compare screen resolution check the Kiosk out. I'm not sure if the E1705 has made it to the kioks, haven't been to the mall in a while. But worth a shot if you want some display models to play the picky shopper like I do with. check it out. o.o;

    One of my favorite tips for checking out display models is. Don't be afraid, to poke, prod, and bang on them.
