    I get that error trying to play Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War.

    1. I can't figure out which nvidia drivers support my 8400M GS. 8 Series, 7 Series, and Go 7900/Go 7800 don't work.

    2. DX9.0c is apparently already installed.

    3. WTF

    (Changed thread title, problem solved, read on)

    Its the 8 Series drivers. Are you getting this error in Vista?

    I'm in XP Home. I tried those first. The drivers are already installed, it just gives me that error!

    EDIT: When installing GeForce 8 Series:

    There's a fix suggested here by "PsychoKL." I don't know if that link will continue working, so I'll quote him...
    and later he posts

    In regards to the error that you recieve when installing the Geforce 8 series drivers, are you using the modified .inf's available on laptopvideo2go? Most of the drivers available at nvidia's website will not install unless you are using a desktop video card, or those modified .inf's.

    I have a fresh Vostro with no non-preinstalled drivers.

    Code:
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
    ;
    ;	nVidia
    ;
    begin vendor 0x10DE

    	configfile nvidia.txt'

    	; disable drivers prior to version 52.16 (previous versions have quirks with directx 9 in win98)

    	begin version 0x0000 0x000D
    		allowdevice 1
    	end
    	begin subversion 0x0000 0x0009
    		allowdevice 1
    	end

    	begin build 0x0000 0x1459
    		allowdevice 1
    	end
    I changed the first three "allowdevice 0" to "allowdevice 1".

    It appears to be working. However, the mouse scrolling and minimap are glitchy. Thx
