    All:

Is there any way to set my touchpad so that I can't tap on it to use it as a left mouse click? I keep accidentally touching it when I'm typing and it moves my cursor where I don't want it and I end up typing in the middle of something I've already typed. Very frustrating.

    Thanks,

You can disable the touchpad. There should be a hotkey on your keyboard to do this.
On my sager, I hit FN+F1 and it disables it. Should be a similar FN+FX combination for you.

If you just want to disable the tap-to-click function (so you can still use the touchpad), it's possible to do so through the touchpad's options. You can go to teh options by clicking on the icon residing in the system tray. If you click on this icon and choose the properties option you have the ability to disable either the touchpad (which you should have an FN+FX command to do so), or the tap-to-click function or any other features.
At least that's how it used to be for Dell's, not sure if it changed much.

Yeah, I'm sure there is an option to disable tapping on the touchpad, but I can't seem to find it. I have the problem whether I have an external mouse plugged in or not.

I edited my post a little. Read it again and see if it helped.

So do you use an external mouse or not?
If you use one, you can just disable the touchpad (try FN+F1). Turning off the touchpad would be the easiest answer to your problem.

Are you using Windows Vista or XP?

Edit: After looking at Dell's website, doesn't seem like there is an FN+FX hotkey for the touchpad. I found the 1520's manual and it has these instructions to customize the touchpad:

There will be an option to turn off the touchpad and should be an option to turn off tap-to-click.

Problem solved. When I installed XP I forgot to install the Dell Touchpad driver. I was using the generic XP touchpad driver with no controls whatsoever. Thanks for the help.
