    Hi,

I just got my Vostro 1400 a couple days ago. One odd thing is the touchpad. Probably 25% of the time I go to tap on a link or tap in a form box the first time I tap the touch pad nothing happens. The cursor doesn't move from its current location until I tap the second time. for example, when I started this message I typed in the message subject textbox then brought my cursor down into the message body, tapped the touch pad to begin typing and the cursor stayed blinking in the message subject textbox. I tapped the touch pad once more and the cursor moved. This is happening a lot. It is not a matter of hitting it hard enough. Thanks for any help or insight.

I assume you have gone to the control panel and checked the mouse settings/options? This does not sound like out of the box normal behavior but I would check the settings first. If you contact dell support about the problem they will have you do that too before doing any kind of repair.

Update your drivers, and play around with the mouse and touchpad settings.

Yes, I have checked the settings. I have disabled TouchCheck and the problem has lessened but not disappeared.

I went to update my drivers and when I went to install the message came up that I was using the same driver.

go to settings, and slide the "Touch Sensitivity" slider to the far left. Solved my problem with unresponsive touchpad...
