does anybody use it? If you go into the bios screen in the security section there is a thing saying track your computer. if anybody uses it please tell me how it works. Thanks in advance

The software is provided by a 3rd party ( Computrace) and at one point, you were able to order it from Dell. I'm not sure if this is still the case. Last year, you could purchase a 3 year contract for $99.
If your laptop is ever stolen/lost, Dell/Computrace will be able to trace your laptop and determine its location.

I have a 3 year. Dell supposedly includes a separate chip so even if they put in/wipe the harddrive, it will still work. i looked at it briefly for a family member's laptop... after quickly searching google i found more than one site that discussed how (relatively) simple it is to defeat, so we decided to forgo the service.
