Hello folks, first ever post here :)

I reflowed the motherboard of my Inspiron 1501 (64 bit AMD/ATI version) after it died, glad to say it's working again now. However, the trackpad now has a strange fault. After it's been used for a short time, less than a minute, it becomes jumpy and erratic, behaving like a wireless mouse does when the battery is failing. Leave it alone for a while and it works normally again for a short while, and so on and so on. I suspect the cause to be that the supply to it from the mobo has become high impedance and the trackpad is running on capacitively stored charge, but maybe someone here knows better? It looks as though the trackpad itself is okay.
Can anyone suggest a solution, workaround, or supply a schematic for the afflicted part?

    Thanks in advance :)
