I'm going to get a desktop instead of a laptop. I've heard too many horror stories and have had too many things I dislike about mine.

This is what I'm thinking of getting and what I need to know is if it can do what I need it to do. I want to be able to surf the internet, listen to music, and be able to run a poker program called PokerStars and run 4 tables at once on my 20" Samsung screen I already have. I don't want delay. I'm afraid I won't get a computer that can handle that, but I'm not asking for a computer that will play Bioshock, just that. I've been told by poker people I don't need much to do those things, but I wanted a second opinion.

Also, if I buy a Wireless N card for it later, can I buy one that will slide in like they do for laptops or will it have to be installed internally?

Thank you for your help. I'm just really disapointed it didn't work out with the 1720, for me and for so many of you!

i think that is okay config, but you should pre install the wireless n, it just saves trouble later on, and i think you cant slide it in

Eh not much point for N. You can just get it later. Especially since you don't have any devices that transmit N. I mean IF you are getting an N-router go for it. Otherwise...might as well wait till they drop in price

i would definitely build desktops myself. they are far to easy and you can get so much more pc for your money.

since you're not a gamer, I'd forget the soundcard and just use integrated, they are pretty good right now.

I'd also go with AMD, since it's way cheaper and take something like a X2 3800 + (wich is about a E4300 and costs like $60).

I don't know if you can get a refund or just trade-in, but Dell desktop are pretty much only big rip-off. They are still using the "old gen" Core 2 duo with the 4300,4400,6320,6420, 6600, 6700 & X6800 while the "new" ones are the E4500, E6550, E6750 & E6850. They are better and WAY cheaper. The E6850 is cheaper than the E6700 ($280), and better than the $1000 X6800.

I'd go with the 8400 if possible, but they are only OEMs though so if you build yourself, get a 8500GT ($70-$80 I guess)

have to agree with nizzy here i would 100% build it myself you get way more for the money and you know what you have done so troubleshooting imo is always easier that way
