I'm having a problem with transferring files from my Desktop to me M1530. Both are connected by the same Belkin54G Router which is set to G broadcast only so they both have to be connected on the G signal.

The problem is that as I transfer a file through the Work-group is limited to 640kb's a second. Whats going on? Shouldnt it be like 5.4mb a second?

Just hook them up with LAN, it will be faster and you can move the router to your desktop temporarily if you need to, no need for internet while you transfer...

Not an option, the router is in the basement up in the ceiling.

How far are they away from each other. 54 mbps is the theoretical maximum for the spec.

You got an old hub lying around? lol... I never managed to get more than what your saying uploading on a G band wireless so I think your stuck with an all day transfer then.

The Desktop uses the Belkin Wireless USB Adapter, my laptop is sitting beside it.

I've been researching this and I've been told you can just use an Ethernet cable to connect your desktop and M1530, and setup a new peer-to-peer connection through the Windows New Connection wizard.

I'm not sure how to, but then you have to set up Windows File Sharing on both computers ... I guess I'll figure it out whenever my M1530 gets here.

Does it need to be a crossover to do that?
