Transferring Ownership of a Dell Laptop?

I'm thinking of getting my mother a new laptop for Christmas. I can get a good deal via the EPP program including a longer warranty at no extra charge.

My mom lives far from me, so I'd have the laptop sent directly to her. But, since I'd be buying it, I assume it would be in my name.

Anyone have experience in changing ownership of a laptop with Dell? I chatted with someone from Dell, and they said it was just a matter of calling customer service. But, honestly, half the information I've gotten via chats has been wrong. So, I'd like to get confirmation.

why do you need to change ownership ?

call dell they will do it.

 

Yeah you can transfer the warranty no problem.
Dell - Ownership Transfers

Your going to need the previous owner's name. Or the Service Tag as well as the Express Service Code.

If it's successful in the transfer, it will take a few hours for Dell's actual system to update.
