I bought a program to transfer to files from my old computer to my new notebook. There were only certain files and a couple of programs I wanted to transfer. I was getting set up and reading my directions and it stated that it would transfer everything from my old computer to the new one. It is not selective. If you did not want something on your new computer then delete it. I will still be using my desktop so there are files I can't delete. My question is will these files overlap my computer, such as, I will already have files for my keyboard then my old computer will add its files, etc. or can someone recommend me a program that is selective. Thanks,

IMO what I would probably do is manually choose which files and documents you require and put them on a shared network folder in your desktop pc.... Connect the desktop and notebook using a LAN cable and configure private IPs in the same series for the two system.... Then access the shared stuff from the notebook and copy them onto your notebook....
Why I am saying this is because these programs are merely showy but dont do any good actually.... I bet you are not using Vista on your desktop - then it would require that almost all those programs installed on your desktop need to be reinstalled again on your laptop again freshly and merely copying the files wont work here.... One such example would be OFFICE 2007 or Visual Studio or something like that.....
